Guest glemmy Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Hi! I have read that people have had problems with different brands of memory cards together with their Blades. Now I saw that play.co.uk has some kind of sale on a 16 GB Micro SDHC with their own brand. Has anyone tried it? I guess £15 is a pretty good price, they cost something like £23-25 over here. It would be nice to hear if someone know it will work before I order. Thanks edit: The card can't be delivered outside of UK anyway :) But perhaps the information can be useful for someone else. Guest ejhollin Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Well, the Class 2 they were selling before had a 6Mb/sec write and 13Mb/s read (shown by the Android app test thing), so these could be exactly the same just rebranded. Surely they can't be any worse? I paid £15.49 last week for that one.

Some infinite loops of the phone accepting the card, then ejecting it occur when they are inserted. But the former, Class 2-card, worked fine with the Blade? Edited December 13, 2010 by glemmy

Guest Arr Too Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Well, the Class 2 they were selling before had a 6Mb/sec write and 13Mb/s read (shown by the Android app test thing) Be aware that the Class designations are minimum speed, i.e. worst case when heavily fragmented. A new card with hardly anything on it will demonstrate maximum speeds, i.e. best case with no (or very little) fragmentation.
Guest dorren Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Its class 4 it could not be so bad could it?
Guest pelliott Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Its class 4 it could not be so bad could it? I just bought a Kingston 16GB micro shdc class 4 card from mymemory.co.uk for £22.40. Sadly it does not work in the San Francisco, I get the looping problem where it continually mounts and then unmounts the card, so avoid this one. It seems to work ok in my laptop so the problem appears to be the phone meaning I probably can't return the card. Can anyone recommend a good 16G class 4 card that works with this phone?

I hope that this is an isolated case. I've bought the same card from the same company. I paid more, for the Kingston, to be sure that I'd be ok. Anyone else know anything about this card ? Thanks
Guest germ19a27 Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 I've got the Play 16GB Micro SDHC card. Works fine for me in the Blade, no issues at all. Hope that helps.
Guest Scope Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 I have just this second finished preparing a RMA of a 8gb Play labeled SDHC card.. Im have asked for a refund, trying something else next time.
Guest rbbrslmn Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 this is a good price, does anyone know what speed this card is?
Guest Azurren Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 I've bought loads of "Play" branded stuff (My RAM, Memory cards etc.) Never had an issue with any of it Seriously brands mean NOTHING my Sony TVs silver finish started peeling off after a few weeks, my friends brand new BMW (Must be nice if mummy and daddy are rolling in it :) ) was in the shop longer than it was in his garage.

Guest misterLjay Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Play branded 16gb card is all good, no issues with mine, although I was jammy as I originally ordered a 4gb card for £5 but instead they sent me the 16gb. I liked Play before but I love 'em now.
Guest nvidiax Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 I've had my play brand 16gb for over a year. They are manufactured by Kingston so it is all good
Guest Arr Too Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 I just bought a Kingston 16GB micro shdc class 4 card from mymemory.co.uk for £22.40. I've got the same card (from a different supplier) and it's working great in my SanFran. Worth double-checking that it's seated properly.
Guest tdodd Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) I ordered one on Monday this week and it arrived today (Friday). Some have reported receiving Class 2 cards, despite ordering the advertised Class 4. Mine says Class 4 but I don't know how I can test it accurately. I don't have a micro SDHC reader for my laptop and despite searching for Android software to test with the only think I've found says it's discontinued by the author. At least it works once formatted. Thread and pictures here - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/16gb-micro...9/#post10130261 Edited December 17, 2010 by tdodd

Guest pelliott Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 After much messing around it seems that I had a faulty handest and there is no issue with the Kingston 16G class 4 SDHC card, I persuaded Orange to replace the handset and now all is fine. I have a further update on this topic that may interest some people. My replacement handset had a display problem so I had to contact Orange again for a further replacement, imagine my surprise when I then inserted the SDHC card and got exactly the same problem. The phone again reported a damaged card and stared cycling through a mount/un-mount sequence continually. Long story short, there is a hardware fault in the Qualcomm chipset for earlier versions of Blade ZTE that means they don't work with some higher speed memory cards (Note: for me the provided Verbatim 2G card and another old class 1 card from my Satanv still worked fine in the bugged handset even though the Kingston class 4 did not), the later versions have a newer chip set without this bug and work fine. Orange are aware of the fault and if you phone them and convince them that you have the issue they will send you a new handset (from a range of serial numbers with the updated chipset) by courier the next working day. To convince them I had to try the card successfully in a PC and also another Orange phone. I hope this is of help to people experiencing the same problem.
Guest adamsy Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I tried the play.com 16gb class 4 sdhc card, worked on PC fine but was a disaster on the blade, it wasn't happy at all, sent it back and got a sandisk 16gb card from play.com again class 4 - is very happy and working like a dream, as a bonus it only cost £15.99 - so only about 50p more than the play.com card cost me initially.... Good Luck! P.S. My blade is an original OLED with pauls r11 on it... Hi! I have read that people have had problems with different brands of memory cards together with their Blades.
