Micro SD Reader Problem

Hey guys, just hoping you might be able to help me with a problem I'm currently having with my San Francisco. I've started using my phone as my personal music player and it was working great until yesterday...

In short, my phone stops and starts when it tries to read and write to the card. When I try to write and read to the card using the usb cable from my phone to computer, the data will be read or written at a normal speed, but will then pause for around 3-4 seconds and then continue as normal (this will occur quite often - every 10 seconds or so). Similarly, when I play music from the phone, it will stop and then start music playback - creating skips in songs (which is why this is really annoying!)

I've tried using a different card which did not solve the problem. I also connected the problematic cards to my computer via a microsd adapter and there were no problems (so it's not the cards).

I don't really want to return the phone because I have it rooted/unlocked/set up just as I want it and because I have one with a AMOLED screen and I expect I would be given a TFT replacement.

I'm running the MoDaCo Custom ROM.

Any ideas? :)
