Guest scoobydoo99 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Setting up my 3rd Blade, when booting it in the standard recovery (power + volume up), when I connect to the PC via USB, the PC doesn't recognise that anything has been connected at all? It's a white Blade, but I've already setup a grey one and a white one ok. Anyone any thoughts on this? Got me baffled, same USB cable, same laptop and the drivers haven't been uninstalled. Any thoughts welcomed.

Guest scoobydoo99 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Before you root check the version already on it and post Well I've already installed clockwork on an 05 and 08 build - is that what you mean? I'll try again tomorrow night, I've put everything away now - been battling with my Pulse as well tonight - argh..

Guest radeonuk Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Have you checked other USB devices in the same USB slot? I would advise checking a different slot first and see if that makes a difference. Then after that as Gerson2k mentioned, check to see if in device manager that the phone had been picked up, and any issues will be displayed in the devices log. If there shows up to be no errors what you might want to try is go to device manager, and try to look for "remote adapter", then uninstall it and unplug & reconnect the phone.
Guest scoobydoo99 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Just to close out this thread. I've managed to get it to work now. For some reason, when it was on the standard recovery screen (green android from power + volume up) the laptop wouldn't recognise that anything was plugged in via USB. I had to select a different USB socket on the laptop before it recognised the phone - and yet, using the original USB with the phone switched on fully, it recognised the phone ok and asked to mount the memory card? Plus I've used this USB port for the other two that I've installed Clockwork onto - baffling, but sorted now and bladevillian running nicely now:)

I seem to be suffering the same sort of problem as scoobydoo99, only I have a Mac. I can plug the phone in switched on and Finder sees the device (it is set to Auto Mount USB Mass storage if that is relevant). So I eject the phone, remove the USB cable, remove and replace the battery, reboot the phone (volume 'up' gets me the Green Android) but when plugged back into the Mac USB it does not become visible in the Finder. Since finding this thread I have tried both ports on my keyboard (one of which I was using to connect originally) and one spare port on the mini but no joy. I've looked in System Profiler (equivalent to Device Manager) but there is nothing there to suggest the phone is connected (It says 'ZTE HSUSB Device:' is connected to the Keyboard Hub when it shows in Finder) Any ideas out there? I'm hoping to update my 0B08 build to Sebastian404's de-orangeated build (or the new Softbank one but I'm new to Android and would rather learn to walk before trying to run!). Any ideas where I can look to get this recognised in so I can install ClockworkMod as I'm a bit baffled by this? I should have guessed as it was all looking so simple.....!

I changed as many settings on the phone as I could remember I had fiddled with and have got to this point. When running and plugged in the phone appears in the Finder and when I look at System Profiler I can see it as this. However when it is switched on with 'Volume Up' and sits at the Green Android screen all I get is this So the USB ports work but the device is not recognised. Could I have inadvertently I fiddled with some setting on the phone that makes it not recognised when connected in this way? Or is there some setting in the Mac that is defeating it? I've reset the NVRAM and PRAM with the Command, Option, P, and R boot and cleared my and the HD's Library caches. Still no joy. I'm a bit lost now and I'd really appreciate some help with this one as I'm utterly stuck unable to load ClockworkMod. :( Edited December 27, 2010 by Thermostat9
Guest Thermostat9 Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 So in the end I dug out an old Windows PC from retirement and once I'd found a keyboard and mouse and a kettle lead to power it up, started up XP. Plugged in the phone and it asked for drivers! Can't remember where I found them now (searched for 'Blade Drivers XP.zip' or something) and once loaded I could extract the ClockworkMod to the phone. (Saw this post after I'd finished and running Ubuntu would have been my next step if I hadn't got a spare PC about the place.) From there I did a backup, cleared the cache and did the factory reset stuff then installed the 2.1 image 'Finnish_Fillyjonk_RLS4' and, since that went well and seemed to work fine, I jumped in and installed 2.2 'Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS1' and it still seems fine. I think I have a backup I can restore and a working version of 2.2. Not too bad after all. But I'd love to know why this Mac doesn't see the phone when in Green Android mode......
