... and all other fonts, system-wise? I mean, font size used for list of programs, font size for platinum backup. No options in program setttings to bump up font size and they all use tiny font, strain my eyes :(

Assuming you're running a Modaco ROM open up the app called Spare Parts and go to "Font Size" (surprisingly enough lol!).

I had the same problem when I got my first Android phone and after hours with Google I found that the only way with a standard ROM was with an app from the Market.

It's called Font Size and costs less than 1 Euro.Your phone must be rooted (free to do) and you only buy the app once.If you change your ROM or your phone you just download and install it again.

The app allows you to change the font size globaly in the phone so you can have larger menus, messages etc and I no longer have to reach for my specs every time I get a text.

This does not work

all it does is make the font of spare parts large, soon as you leave the app or go anywhere else such as open a message it goes back to normal size

When you then go back to spare parts "normal" font size is selected once again.

Ah ok.

I know handcent allows you to increase the messaging font size.

Otherwise try yorksims idea above.

thanks for all the suggestions, I will try them. I was planning to use a mod, in the end, once I get bored of orange (sufficiently). I would try out a few apps, but I have a glitch in my handset - when I scan a QR code and click on the link, it throws up a message "You don't have a permission to open this page.

market/search?" (etc, etc), while other websites open ok. So I'll have to hope that the apps mentioned above are downloadable to the PC as apk files first. And I'll experiment with modded rom over Christmas.

Thanks again for the tips.
