Guest swarrans Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 This seems a bit odd, but on the standard keyboard with English (UK) selected as Language and Settings the keyboard only shows a Dollar sign... I guess most people seem to upgrade to different keyboards so I may have to do this (I would prefer to try one before having to buy it though). On a separate topic sneekily incorporated into this posting, my biggest disappointment with the Vega is the lip sync in videos - I can't actually watch them - I don't suppose there is a variable sound/video gizmo on any players is there? (I guess not as I suppose it would take a lot of memory and processing?)
Guest removed-14 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 I think you need to go to the numbers page and then is there an 'Alt' button or 'Sym' which takes you to another page of symbols. As for lip sync, have you updated your ROM to the Modaco one with performance pack? As I don't have issues with lip sync, only with videos that have been encoded badly, but these have lip sync issues when played on ANY device!

Thanks Tony, you're right, you first go to numbers and then alt brings up the pound sign (I just assumed the default would be pound for the UK keyboard) Yes, I'm on the latest version (small bar and all) with the performance pack. I confess I haven't tried with any of my own ripped DVDs (but I will) - it's mainly just iPlayer at the moment which I find unwatchable TBH. I tried Myplayer, but I think it has been cobbled (even though I got the pre-BBC lawyer version!) - it just comes up with a service unavailable comment Do you have any recommendations for sources? Guest removed-14 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 I've found iPlayer works fine for audio sync, as shown in a video I did a few weeks back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N40U22Fd8oM Not sure what to recommend?

That's very curious isn't it? Perhaps it is browser related? I'm using the Miren browser and I'm guessing you use Dolphin? I've seen quite a few other comments about lip sync concerns so we should compare notes...
Guest removed-14 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 No that is the stock browser in the video. I now use Dolphin but as far as I can tell Dolphin is just a skin/overlay of the stock browser.
Guest worto03 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 If you long press the $ key you'll get a £ you can also long press a lot of the number keys to get other symbols, I find long pressing the $ better than going via the ALT key.
