Guest gilrad Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863923 Somebody at XDA found a way to remove data throttling by networks by modifying the android rom. Don't know how many people this applies to over in the US and UK, but I am sure there are plenty of networks around the world that throttle their users (As of last month, my carrier started throttling ALL USERS within Tokyo regardless of data usage. Sucks.) I might give it a spin sometime when I have the time (christmas break is coming up), but I thought Streakdroid could benefit from this in the "gotta create the best damn ROM on the planet" sort of way.
Guest adzman808 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) gave this a try but i'm stuck on the push services.jar part... probs is my caveman understanding of adb / sdk but making the new services.jar did make me feel like a real man :) don't suppsoe you know where services.ajr lives in the phone, i'm an idiot - its in services/framework screw adb i'll just copy the mo-fo over with root expl :) :EDIT: i suspect it's the mount system that i didn't get right... i don't know about this... i went into CW found the menu mounted system (success in that CW changed 'mount system' option to 'UNmount system') ran the adb push command device not found the USB cable was in the whole time i did (in fact from b4 i turned of streak to boot into CW) should i have only inserted it after mounting system? the command i used was adb-windows.exe push services.jar /system/framework/ (i stupidily closed cmd - i should copied the text) but from memory cd D:\streak adb-windows.exe adb-windows.exe push services.jar /system/framework/ device not found Edited December 14, 2010 by adzman808
Guest adzman808 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 & i think my original prob was forgettign to add services.jar to my tools folder :dickhead:
Guest adzman808 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Hmmmmm LOTS of FCs & phone seems unusable.. bugger!
Guest chrisrotolo Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 I seen this as well, Sure I feel throttled by ATT, but I read through some of the pages on the topic at xda and it seems like this if for when you go over you data cap ie. 5GB/month then they crank you down to less than 1Mbps download Im on ATT and in good spots I get 2.5Mbps Download, usually good enough. I also saw a code on there something like *#*#4636#*#* to use HUSPA data only. let us know if anyone notices any big differences on their streaks.
