Guest domenico lamberti Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 is it possible to port samsungs bada OS to android powered devices, both using linux as a base , it would be pretty awesome if this was possible because my dad had a wave but broke it and now has an iPhone 4 (hate them with a passion) , bada i think is an operating system that if it has aenough publicity and hacking would be a great OS , so will any body try to port bada over ,im just a hopeful not a coder ,
Guest rayraven Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 ^The guys on Bada are trying to get Android, that, i think says something. It's not a great OS now, no where near Android. It doesnt have proper multitasking, apps restart when you switch to them and even after having 512MB of RAM, it gets out of memory errors a lot & it doesnt have as many apps either. Not something i want on my blade.

Hell the bada devices have the horsepower to run Android 2.3 and they just throw bada onto it ... yuk :) Anyway, it will be very difficult to find some DEVs that are willing to port bada. I think there's not much interest in this ... Best regards, BB

Guest Shinrow Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 I don't really understand why you would want to have Bada OS on the Blade... Before having the Blade (Love it !), I used to have a Samsung Wave (Hate it !) because I thought Bada OS would have a strong support from Samsung and devs... I was completely wrong and both weren't supporting Bada at all (Samsung Wave juste had minor update, nothing really interesting). That's why I sold it to have another Android device (I used to have HTC Dream before having the Wave) and ZTE Blade was really THE device I needed !

Best regards, BB You know, it doesn't have to be useful, it is simply enough that you will KNOW you CAN DO it :( The knowledge of you did something great no man did before is great, trust me, I know it from the old Symbian times :)
Guest aser28 Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 I was actually though opposite any possibility Android on Bada device. Is it possible?
Guest k0nrad Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) aser28 - Look for info about it on dedicated BadaOS devices' forums rather. From my unexperienced point of view I'd say it's possible and people are trying - especially with the original Samsung Wave (S8500), which is hardware-wise similar to the Galaxy S. It's all about hacking drivers and bootloader I guess. IIRC the Wave's bootloader has already been hacked to boot an Android kernel. Actually, the S8500 Wave is a lovely device IMO (great hardware and build quality) but the OS is a downside... So if it's running fully functional green robot one day, that would be sweet.
