Guest slitz Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) How do you manage to flash the splash image onto the custom BladeVillian1.1.0? (it's on 2.1-update1 I think) I'm using release 4 and every time I flash it with fastboot and restart the phone I still get that red devil android. I tried using Root Explorer and the same thing happens. Is this splash screen only for 2.2? I can't use the OUK image file method in the resource apk because it's a T-mobile one and it doesn't even use that! Edited December 14, 2010 by slitz

The second one is from boot.img, you have to edit that. The splash screen I've linked is from a 2.1 ROM, but it's universal. You can flash it with fastboot, manual is in the linked topic.
Guest slitz Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Ah right, thank you for the information, so what I'm looking for must be the boot screen. But I must ask, is it possible to edit this file in Windows? If not, may I request a guide or link to one please? Googling "android boot screen edit" doesn't help me a lot, everyone keeps talking about the boot animation. I don't want to change the boot animation, just the second screen after the green Android guy. I want to replace that screen with another green Android guy.

Sorry, I don't know anything at all about these things on this level. (Long shot, but I guess you may have to cook it again.) I've tried to flash the hungarian T-mobile dump boot.img over an existing bV installation, it worked... I guess, the bV features (if there are any) won't work, but it'll be usable (probably, I used this config only for a few minutes).
Guest slitz Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Oh alright, I guess I'll have to go do some research. If I figure it out I'll post back, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to get rid of having branding on the phone (again, as if the Orange logo could get any worse!)
Guest slitz Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) Ah, managed to do it now. Nobody has given me any pointers on this, I just had to do some crazy Googling. Here's what I did: I had to use VirtualBox and Ubuntu to do it but I'm happy, lol. [http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/26/how-to-cr...up-the-kitchen/] I then used the alternate method of editing boot.img [http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?titl...ack_Boot_Images] I got the mkbootfs and mkbootimg from here: http://code.google.com/p/zen-droid/downloads/list I had to put ./ in front of all my commands and it worked instead of giving me errors. To package the boot.img and have it still working I added the Nexus One --base thing. Spent quite a while on this, but it works! I have no idea how to do this on Windows. I'll upload the file here for anyone that wants the same thing [for use with the Hungarian/custom bladevillian rom]. But I have no idea how to edit the logo.bmp file, any guide on it would be nice. I had to use the original logo.bmp from the Hungarian rom.boot.rar Edited December 15, 2010 by slitz
Guest Maigel Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 How to edit boot image: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-edit-boot-img/ I edited logo.bmp with GIMP 2 (for Windows), and the format is "Windows BMP image", 16-bit R5 G6 B5 (at least image displayed correctly on my phone).
Guest slitz Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 I tried that Windows method before, it didn't work. I fails to extract the ramdisk. Oh, thanks for the information on the boot image!
