Liquid without screenprotector

Hi,

I realised that I dont have a screenprotector on my Liquid for 3 months now. And when I look close to the screen, I can't see any scratches. It has even fallen from my desk a few times. I wonder if I should apply a screenprotector? Has other people got many scrachtes on the screen?

I've got some minor scratches, only one is notable when the screen is on. I keep it in my pocket, screen facing me and pressed to the cloth, with my wallet 'protecting' the other side against bumps. I've had it about half a year.

about a year without protector, 3 days ago it got the first noticeable scratch (visible with screen off and against the light -> almost invisible).

dropped it a few times on various grounds, so the plastic got some more noticeable scratches :)

in my opinion a protector is only a waste of the gorgeous design of the liquid. "good design is durability" or so, look at the iphone 4 :)

Acer and other cheaper manufacturers save money by using less durable components. Which is a fine tradeoff for me since I'm careful with my equipment (I use a screen protector). We get high-end electronics inside at a low price, this is the trade off.

So jayziac, you say the screen is from bad quality?

And that from less durable components is true, that is also with their notebooks. But I dont think its bad, because it almost costs half as a HTC desire or something so I can buy 2 phones with the same money someone with a HTC-phone can. And in about a year, there will be dualcore phones with a more recent OS so it's better to buy 2 phones instead of one. (it's also more fun to buy 2 things :) )

But I was just really surprised it doesn't have any scratches after 3 months of heavy use. I put it in a soft-pouch in my pocket.

I'm not sure I'll buy a screenprotector. Its not the price but just that it doesn't always fit that nice and screenprotectors get scratched really fast (the on from my borther's Nintendo DS does and it's pretty thick and hard.) and it lowers sensivity (but the touchscreen is sensitive enough for me now)

I'm not saying the liquid has a bad screen, just may not be as durable as Droid or Iphones. It obviously has a flimsly plastic backcover. I'm not taking chances with the screen, which is why I use a protector. Just that I don't mind Acer's decision to go with cheap materials.

Almost a year now without protection and not one scratch.

I dont know, It is a plastic screen... I am going to keep the protector on for a while. I have onticed that the screen isnt the most responsive though, perhaps a thinner protector would be best.
