ZTE Blade vs Omnia 2

I cannot believe it, cheap and powerful phone. First I didn't take notice, but your reviews somehow attracted me and I am also tired of paying 400 GBP for "Premium" (Samsung, HTC) phones.

I hope someone will be able to share the information I need. I own Omnia 2 i8000 (WM 6.5m, custom energy rom) but WM is really slow compared to Android and most of all it lacks of RAM.

Is ZTE Blade phone comparable to my Omnia, I mean if I get one for myself instead of Samsung, will I be satisfied or has too many downsides compared to Samsung, Motorola, HTC android or even my Omnia?

Yesterday I tryed Milestone (Android 2.1) and it surprised me responsivness. Since the CPU in Milestone and Blade are almost same speed, is Android on Blade also that fast?

What should I decide - to swap my phone for ZTE Blade or not? Every advice and info will be appreciate it :)

I've come from a HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) and aside from the fact it doesn't have a physical keyboard, it's a blazing fast phone.

The only other phone I've used which was as fast was the Nokia N900, although the web browsing on Android isn't as good, I think the interface is more fluid than the N900 or matching it.

Launcher Pro makes the home screen extremely smooth, enabling or putting on a rom with hardware acceleration will boost performance some more (not sure about the battery life).

The ZTE Blade is a brilliant entry level Android phone that performs almost like the higher priced Android phones, it has WVGA too.

It missing a trackpad/ball is debatable on what you're going to use it for.

If you're thinking of going WP7 later, the price of this phone won't affect your decision.

Sometime next year the dual-core chip phones will come out, the battery life might suffer but the prices of the other phones will drop.

Getting a high end phone now, imo, is a bad idea. This phone is able to run ExZeus on high settings without much frame dropping, if that means anything to you.

Quake 3 runs at about ~30 fps, I think. I don't play it because the controls are pretty bad.

ZTE blade is pretty fast in gaming, but apparently it has a disadvantage in 2D rendering. It's a little bit jerky and someone's already post a thread about the jerkiness of the blade. The thread also contain informations about zte blade compared to other high end android device. Just search 'jerky' in the search topic below, and you'll find it very useful.

But IMO, just take the blade :)
