Guest OpenWebdesign Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) Kernel source code - Liquid Metal S120 from Acer UK website (2010/12/14) http://bit.ly/gcOK41 Isn't it too small? Guest HustlinDaily Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 File not found. Post a mirror.

Guest vache Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Mirror: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/605980/kernel%20So...er_1.0_S120.rar 900Ko is really too small to be the complet source :/ Another Acer fail.
Guest elban Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 It's not the full linux kernel source but it's definitely part of it; maybe an incomplete file, or just a patch to the former sources? Can someone try to replace the files in the old kernel with this one?
Guest tmp_do Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 900Ko is really too small to be the complet source :/ Another Acer fail. yeah. epic fail. nothing for hw, only some crap
Guest Winston Ma Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) I think the 'kernel' file is a patch that Acer added on top of the original kernel source code. EDIT: My best guess is... we could retrieve the "Metal" full kernel source by downloading Liquid E source, remove all the files in msm-5ddc596/kernel directory and then extract the 1MB "Metal" source file in that directory Since the file structure is very very similar. Guest koudelka Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 yeah. epic fail. nothing for hw, only some crap There are some interesting stuff, for example they have included fast dormancy code. This is nothing we had in previous kernels (even though it was included in the compiled ones acer released)
Guest bais Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Snap, somebody has to include fast dormancy in custom kernels. That's probably the thing I miss most when I don't use ROMs based on Acer leaks. But the question is, is this compatible with the Liquid non metal?

I just compared the liquid e and the metal kernel source. I find the dormancy code on metal. I have no idea but you could ask Dario93. He made the FroYoMetal distribution. I can smell overclock :) Edited December 15, 2010 by Winston Ma

Guest Winston Ma Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Dario said he's got overclock working in cooperation with thepasto. It'd be nice to take a look as the Metal kernel source have some new function like dormancy. It'd be great if all things works.
Guest jayziac Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 in terms of kernel changes, my wish is for FM radio. OC is overrated.
Guest simoneser Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Acer released now the correct kernel (89,5mb) for Liquid Metal. Hope that someone can use it to do roms for Metal and use something to make the ones for Liquid more stable :)
Guest Borkata Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I have looked at source and actually we can modify board 8x50 and compile for Liquid A1.
Guest bais Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 That would be awesome if someone could make a custom kernel for Liquid with this metal source. It may actually fix some bugs (fast dormancy, dialing tone, Wifi tethering...) that affect many current custom ROMs.
Guest Borkata Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I have already checked and wifi tethering cannot be fixed using this source, because acer have wifi source out of kernel :) But already found source code for our chips with SOFTAP enabled and will try to compile at some time.

Phh should have that code merged into his tree already (bcm4329 source, that he said he had used with the firmware acer use in liquid on other devices and it worked)

And here it is driver that guys from Samsung Spica modified to work with softap - https://github.com/SamdroidMod/spica_wlan_module Edited December 16, 2010 by Borkata

Guest m3rs Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) Maybe that is full kernel source: Download Link oh. sorry. dont read :) Edited December 19, 2010 by m3rs
