Guest heavyduty00 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Ok so San Francisco arrived yesterday, 1) to check if it is a tft screen, do u look at the baseband version number or the build number because i saw in a thread you have to look at the baseband version number and mine ends in B01... my build number ends in B08 tho lol so i presume it is TFT? Does TFT screens mean the same as an LCD screen btw?! 2) Also can anyone tell me what kernel and clockwork recovery means?lol 3) Would this rom be ok for my phone if it is tft screen: http://android.modaco.com/content-page/324...3-dec/page/100/ 4) If something goes wrong at any stage doing flashing and rooting etc, is it possible to just reflash it back to stock rom easily? 5) Any screen protectors and cases possible to buy in amazon uk? I dont like using ebay. I think the samsung i900 screen protectors fit this device? thanks for your help! :)
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 1. Its the Build Number - Yes you have a TFT 2. Clockwork is a program that you write to the RECOVERY part of the phone You can tell the phone to boot into recovery by holding the DOWN VOLUME when booting You change the RECOVERY part of the phone using FASTBOOT A Kernel is the code that abstract all the hardware and makes it available to the ANDROID ROM 3. Yes that ROM is good its supports TFT 4. As long as you have Clockwork - then you are ok - you can always recover. 5. Search the forum. Please check this thread to help you understand what you should be doing. http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/
Guest Arr Too Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 my build number ends in B08 tho lol so i presume it is TFT? It's quite likely to be a TFT (LCD), and even more so if it's a white one. If the build number ends with B05 (and it works properly!) then it's an OLED. But there are some OLED units that have apparently shipped running B08, too.
Guest heavyduty00 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 ok thanks mine is grey so it is probably tft will start trying to flash it now thanks

Guest heavyduty00 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 can someone help me on a step by step guide to doing this on windows 7 please? is this correct? Firstly get the 2.5.0.9 Clockwork. Your first task is to get that flashed to your RECOVERY part of the phone The tool that does this is in the fastbootzip Extract the fastboot on your PC Get the phone in flash mode (Turn on with VOLUME UP held) it will stay at the green android Now plug in the phone and run the fastboot command to send the Recovery ROM to the phone then use the fastboot command to reboot. Now copy your chosen ROM to the SDCARD Boot into Recovery (holding VOLUME DOWN) on boot. Follow the instructions to install the rom what is fastboot? Am i meant to use command prompt for the whole thing? And do i need to erase all the apps and stuff on my memory card 1st before i flash it?

Fastboot is the ZIP mentioned in Stage 1 http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/ You can wipe the cache and factory reset in clockwork - you can try and boot without doing it, but if it doesnt boot, just go back into clockwork and do the clear cache and factory reset
Guest heavyduty00 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 do i need to use fastbook and clockworkmod recovery as well?

Guest heavyduty00 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 can some1 help me please? what is the fastboot directory? and when it says open a terminal does that mean using the command prompt?
Guest heavyduty00 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 when do i have to do a nandroid or titanium backup? can someone please pm me to help me please!!
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 bump A nandroid backup is done in clockwork - it puts a full backup in a directory on your SD card the titanium backup puts the apps you have backed up in another directory on your sd card nandroid should be done before you install the rom (in clockwork) titanium - whenever you feel you need your apps and data backing up
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) can some1 help me please? what is the fastboot directory? and when it says open a terminal does that mean using the command prompt? Yes it means a command prompt I suggest you put the unzipped fastboot in the root of the c drive so it looks like c:\fastboot\ Edited December 15, 2010 by StevenHarperUK
