Thanks in advance Chris
Guest swarrans Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 There are loads of posts already on this forum explaining what you have to do and why people have problems - it might be best if you tried reading them...

Thanks in advance Chris Some short bits of advice: 1: You do not need to put it into recovery mode. 2. Use the driver included in Paul's ROM. YM
Guest removed-14 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 It must be plugged into the mains when you attempt getting into the update mode.

YM Got a mate (not local) having a total nightmare trying to update his Vega to latest image on MyAdventVega; he just cant get his Vega into Recovery Mode - I have sat on the phone (hands free) for over an hour today - I feel exhausted! LOL! Out of interest - are there any visual signs to say that the device is in Recovery Mode? Your comment above - just so I fully understand - are you saying that all he needs to do is to install the driver in Pauls ROM; then connect up his Vega to his PC with the USB cable & then run the Advent update file. Is that ALL he needs to do? (Does the Vega have to be in any USB specific mode before he does this?) Also - about how long does it take to do the update? Is there any visual indication to show that the update has worked? Cheers :) jw
Guest Cwmdu86 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I have noticed that if the back light comes on you have gone to far for recovery mode. Some others have also had problems and need to experiment holding down the buttons for different times. Mine wouldn't boot recently so I let the battery go flat first as well. Don't know if it made any difference but flashed first time after that.

Just shows that trying to "do something" remotely by giving instructions to a 3rd party doesnt always work, cos youre not sure if the person at the other end is doing EXACTLY what you say! OK - for anyone else having an issue with this - instead of powering off his Vega by holding down on / off for SIX seconds - he was holding down power key - seeing pop up menu - selected turn off power! For reasons unknown - this doesnt allow the recovery mode process. When I told him to do exactly what I had said - it worked! He's now upgraded! Phew! :)
Guest simonta Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Jellywobbles, passing on a tip from Paul/Tay4or. Keep the device manager tree open as you go into recovery. You'll see the tree update when the driver loads..
