Guest JordanT92 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 So, what are the chances of the 3G module in the newer Advent Vega's (once released) working on the older Vega's that we all have? It's obvious where it's going to go and which port it will be attached to... so if I buy a replacement of the one that will be shipped with the 3G Vega and do a software upgrade, should be no problem right? Or if the 3G POV Mobii / 3G UX100 beats the 3G Vega to the market. Otherwise, I'll be buying a MiFi router if anyone could recommend a nice, reasonably priced one. Thanks.
Guest JordanT92 Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) According to the web, the non-3G version of the Malata Zpad (P10AN01) has a PCIe placement on the motherboard which we can modify to add 3G + GPS support. "There is a PCIe placement on board, but does not have the socket. Technically, you should be able to solder a socket on to add PCIe 3G card. You will also have to solder the SIM socket as well." I've got this dream about a plugin card with 3G, a proper accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS and magnetometer. Anyone got links to Chinese manufacturers? Imagine how many you could sell. Produce it with different connectors for Vega, mini PCIe, USB etc. Scrumptious! Edited December 31, 2010 by simonta
