Guest David Watzke Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Hi, I've got this annoying problem with my HTC Desire Z. I managed to get temproot just fine using the "ratc"/rage exploit. Once in rootshell, I remount /system r/w, copy the Superuser.apk to /system/app and move new "su" to /system/bin, set correct permissions (tried 4755, 6755, 6777 just to be sure), sync, remount and it's still not enough, because after reboot "su" just says "pemission denied". When I check, those files are there with correct perms but even though everything looks fine, it's not. I also tried to clean up after the manual method and run VISIONary. While that worked for me just fine for the first time (few weeks ago), after losing my root (after a data+cache wipe) it just doesn't work - I've tried it many times (each time after a reboot, of course). It looks like it temproots the device but after tapping permroot it (sometimes) just reboots and it's still unrooted. Phone is S-OFF with engineering hboot, I also ran gfree -f. Any ideas, please? I'm using Linux every day for five years now, so I'm not completely new to this stuff, but I just can't figure this one out :-( Thanks a lot, Dave
Guest David Watzke Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 I've solved this one a few days ago by following the "downgrade from 1.72" guide @ http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?titl...e_to_1.34.707.3 ... I already had the v1.34.707.3 installed but something was obviously wrong with it and after the reinstall of the stock ROM the VISIONary r14 worked for me and I got permroot again. Now I'm running CyanogenMod 7 RC4.
