What am I doing wrong?

Hi, Can anybody tell me where I am going wrong, I have followed the instructions to the letter, and I cannot get any custom ROMS to work, They just get stuck on the opening flash screen... I tried Finnish Fillyjonk, and it got stuck on the please wait.. animated dots screen, I tried Bladevillain 1.1.0, it gets stuck on the ZTE flash animation screen, tried others, they all get stuck on opening animated screen, with the exception of the OrangeUK B08 rom, this is of coarse, what the phone comes with, I can load this just fine.. no probs, and also managed to get the r6_deorangated fat blade loaded, but when the phone screen goes to 'sleep' it wont turn back on (when the keylock kicks in!)

Any Idea's.

Any ROM would do, I want to get rid of Orange stuff.
