Missing RAM on Orange SF :(

Wanted to ask this for a while now.

My SF is only showing 414.93MB of RAM, isn't it meant to be 512MB?

Is it just me or its normal?

Quite normal. The rest is used for....other things.

The phone parts, I think.

mem used: 100 something

mem available: 200 something

total mem 414.93

One more thing, my screen has a RED shadowing.

all light fonts on dark background have a slight red shadow to the right. Is that normal?

Try turning the brightness up and see if this solves it

(OLED screens get slight pink tinges on white)

Not heard of shadowing though :S

Oh and btw Windows 7 uses 2gb of my 4gb RAM :)

(Yeah I told it to.. Free ram is wasted ram :))

Phones technically have two OS's running on them. One for the Radio , the bit that actually sends and receives the phone calls, and the general os that the user uses, in this case android. The total RAM of the device is 512 but you will find about 64mb is for the radio only. Same issue with the t-mobile pulse and its 192 MB of RAM .. Grrrr

Task killer says mine has about 300Mb free, so i guess the other 200mb is used for system, and the launcher etc, which i'm completely fine with.

Just rooted and installed MoDaCo Custom rom

in settings , SD card USB and phone storage the internal phone storage only show 164mb of available space

also in titanium backup it says Internal 218mb (172mb free)

where the rest of the internal storage (512mb)

whats the best way of finding the missing ram?
