Guest Artskie Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I picked up a new Orange San Fran yesterday and to be honest have rushed into rooting and installing clockwork. I followed the tutorials step by step on routing the phone itself (I have successfully got super user on it) I then installed Clockwork 2.5.1.3 following the great tutorial on this forum. Unfortunately I now have a phone that when booting displays a blue Orange logo and doesn't wake from being on standby. I also am unable to get the phone into recovery clockwork mode (the phone just displays the green android logo). It is a new San Fran so would imagine it being a TFT screen. Is there anyone there that may be able to help me get out of this kerfuffle ive gotten myself into? I would also like to know what ROM I would be best using? I hear good things about Froyo but am not sure as I am a complete android n00b. Thanks for any help......
Guest gavinlew Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Hi, Have you tried, battery out, battery in , power on with volume + Should display the Green Android, then reflash clockwork and try again? I've just done another 2 devices this morning with no problems.

Guest Phoenix Silver Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 no clockwork 2.5.0.9 i have read there is problems with 2.5.1.3
Guest Azurren Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 no clockwork 2.5.0.9 i have read there is problems with 2.5.1.3 But is the older one compatible with a TFT Blade?
Guest The Soup Thief Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Do as Gavinlew suggested (reflash clockwork) to get out of the current pickle Personally, when I was first getting used to flashing ROMs, I found the most common sense way of getting ROMs on to my phone was to (turn it off) take out the micro-SD, shove it in an adapter and into my PC and just save the new ROM from the PC to the SD, before putting the SD back in the phone, rebooting into clockwork ROM-wise, I've recently upgraded to Paul's Alpha 4 Froyo ROM and really really like it - I wouldn't say I've had significantly more problems with it than with the Eclair ROMs, and I gather it's happy on TFTs If you go ad-free (do - I regret not having done so sooner than I did) then you get access to the ROM kitchen and you get to install this lovely alpha 4 ROM, with A2SD or A2SD+, which gives you lots of headroom to install all the appy goodness you gould ever want. You can get A2SD on other ROMs but I never managed to get it working properly til alpha 4 If you wanna work yourself up (though I don't reckon there's a lot less effort involve in this than Froyo), then put Sebastien404's r7 Eclair rom on it I've not used r7, but used r6 on my OLED blade and found it to be very smooth and quick enough - nicest of the Eclair ROMs I played with r7 is a revision to work with both TFT and OLED phones and is (given its pedigree) likely to be a winner Good luck :)
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 But is the older one compatible with a TFT Blade? yes my french blade is a tft one.
Guest The Soup Thief Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Hi again Re the older clockwork and tft blades - I'm guessing it must be compatible, since so many people with tft screens are flashing roms Surely if there were a problem with it (2.5.0.9) then it would be all over the boards I reckon... But even if it doesn't work, you can always shoehorn the later version back on
Guest gavinlew Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Both clockwork mod's available in this forum are compatible with TFT screens, i use the latest to partition the SD Card and do the nandroid backup, then flash the older one over to actually install the rom I choose (Hungarian Hedgehog in my cases).
Guest fillo Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 sorry to jump in on this thread...... bought myself a SF a week ago, managed to get an OLED version. im still a complete noob, but i rooted it with 2.5.0.9 and then installed the r6 mod. very happy with it, so ive ordered the wife one for xmas, tho its a TFT version..... from what i understand, i can still root it with 2.5.0.9 but cant install the r6 mod? is this correct? if so is the r7 mod basically just like the r6, but compatible with TFT screens? thanks for any help/advice Si

Guest Artskie Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks for the responses all :) I have tried flashing back to 2.5.0.9 but still get the same issue When I run the command line 'fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.9-modaco-r2-blade.img' it says OKAY and OKAY I then reboot using the command from the tutorial 'fastboot-windows reboot' the phone then reboots and still has the blue orange logo and does not wake when going into standby. Any other suggestions? Thanks :)
Guest The Soup Thief Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 @fillo Reading between the lines of Sebastien404's latest changelog, it seems to be the next (and last) of his developments in this series I'm sure he's tweaked other bits and bobs but the salient diference in your case seems to be that it's compatible with both screentypes
Guest Arr Too Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Any other suggestions? Use ClockworkMod to wipe the caches and then reinstall a ROM that's compatible with your TFT screen.
Guest The Soup Thief Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Use ClockworkMod to wipe the caches and then reinstall a ROM that's compatible with your TFT screen. Ahhh - the cache! Forgot that
Guest Artskie Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Use ClockworkMod to wipe the caches and then reinstall a ROM that's compatible with your TFT screen. Can you explain how I would go about wiping the cache? Thanks
Guest The Soup Thief Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Can you explain how I would go about wiping the cache? Thanks Actually, I just realised that if you're not getting into clockwork, you won't get the option to wipe the cache - sorry - wasn't thinking Bit rushed now, but just wanted to make sure that you are starting up and booting into clockwork in the correct way, so (from phone off) pressing and holding power on with also volume held down [Then again, I think you say you've done two other blades today so you probably know this] Then once you're in clockwork and your phone dsiplay is upside down, one of the available options is to clear the cache, another is to clear all factory settings I would recommend doing both, one after the other, before flashing your new rom Forgive me if you did all that already - just wanted to be clear that you were actually doing the right things to get into clockwork

I have ROM Manager installed and can see that the Flash ClockwordMod Recovery current version is 2.5.0.1 even though I have tried flashing with 2.5.0.9 multiple times.

This could be a very simple problem... [just checking] Yes - it is You are holding the volume UP need to hold the volume DOWN when rebooting to start clockwork! Try that and get back to us!
