Guest Sebastian404 Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I was waiting for this to include it in de-oranged r7, but I got sick of waiting, and yet here we are 24 hours later ... :)
Guest goldengate Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 woohoo!!! Just gone on the marketplace and says Update Available :) trying it out now....
Guest ejhollin Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) Wohoo! Been waiting for this! Edit: Hmmm.. I though it was going vector-based, it still looks tiled. Do I have to reboot? Edited December 16, 2010 by ejhollin
Guest mELIANTE Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) I'm still getting tiled maps, not vectorized :) Found no differences other than compass not working anymore... I think I'll remove the uppdate. Edited December 16, 2010 by mELIANTE
Guest goldengate Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Not seeing any 3D Vector buildings in UK or London yet hmm? Also I can get the 2 finger side view but can't get the 360 spin thing going if you watch the video above you'll see what I mean :)

Guest rayraven Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Okay, maybe i'm dumb, but how do you get into the 3D mode on the blade? Sliding down with two fingers like on the ad does nothing.
Guest mELIANTE Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Maybe clean out the cache? Option not available on settings. Do you get vectorized maps?
Guest ejhollin Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Option not available on settings. Do you get vectorized maps? Nope. Rebooting didn't do anything either (no surprises there though)
Guest goldengate Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Okay, maybe i'm dumb, but how do you get into the 3D mode on the blade? Sliding down with two fingers like on the ad does nothing. If you search for Empire State Building you can see what it should do ;) ...but can't find any UK 3D Buildings. Also can't turn 360 with fingers and I still have tiles too. There is an option in Menu > More > Cache Settings to clear but doesn't change anything :)
Guest Arr Too Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Not seeing any 3D Vector buildings in UK or London yet hmm? They're ignoring the village for a bit. Just Cardiff and Birmingham at present.
Guest rayraven Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 ^+1, no vectorized maps here either? Is it restricted to certain devices?
Guest markrfletcher Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Not seeing any 3D Vector buildings in UK or London yet hmm? Also I can get the 2 finger side view but can't get the 360 spin thing going if you watch the video above you'll see what I mean :) Not getting the 2 finger slide or 360 spin, though it does feel slightly snappier. Also, I can get 3D buildings (in places like Manhattan), but again, they can't be rotated or the axis changed.
Guest ejhollin Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 What a disappointment! Maybe they rushed it out.
Guest goldengate Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 From Google Blog: "Get Google Maps for mobile 5.0 by searching for Google Maps in Android Market (or tap on this link if you’re on your phone). Android 1.6+ devices can get Maps 5.0, but 3D and offline features require Android 2.0+, and some features may not be supported for all devices or countries. :)
Guest cobhc Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I get the vectorized maps if I look at something in America and zoom in all the way, but not the rotate bit, anyone got the slide your two fingers down bit to actually work? Everytime I try it just zooms in instead. God the multitouch on the Blade is s***.

Everytime I try it just zooms in instead. God the multitouch on the Blade is s***. Is it really vectorized or just an isometric view?
Guest goldengate Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) anyone got the slide your two fingers down bit to actually work? Everytime I try it just zooms in instead I can get the slide fingers down bit to work OK in both portrait and landscape mode.... but I dont understand if it lets us do this why can't we rotate?!?!?!?! :) Update: i've read the Comments on the Marketplace and seems Rotate Not compatible with the Nexus One, Samsung Captivate and mytouch Slide ...so its not just us Blades! Guest rayraven Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Plus, the Compass Mode seems to be disabled too? Is there a way to turn in on the blade?
Guest Skywrit3r Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I can't install it, I get "Unknown error -8" :) I've uninstalled brut maps and have enough space on the phone. I'm on FLB-Froyo G2 R3a Any suggestions?
Guest goldengate Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 ...also seeing Google Ads on top of the Maps for the first time too, I want my old one back :)
Guest ezablade Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 two finger slide down working, go to New York and try, the buildings pop up as you do it... spin doesn't work clicking the locate button to get the map to rotate as you turn also works
Guest SWOriginal Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Great Update! Everythings working for me, pauls R4. Tilt view: use 2 fingers with a finger tip width between the two Compass is working smoothly & better than it ever has 3D vectors working! Better in the U.S than London bit im sure it'll get sorted The speed of it is just amazingly fast!
