Hi all, sorry to say, this is my first post and instantly asking for help. But i am pulling my hair out trying to get my vega up and running again.I flashed the new software update v1.06 and all went well i think it rebooted to the setup wizard and this is when the problems start trying to get it to register english was hit and miss (kept going to different languages even when pressing english.I eventually managed to get english uk up but the screen is very unresponsive and the agree button on the Eula does not register at all.I then put back the usb into vega & laptop it registers but also shows the de bugging motiff on the taskbar.I think i may of had this on when installing.Could this be the problem ? and how do i get rid of it before doing another update in recovery mode as i have tried 3 times but still getting the same problem.

Sorry to be a pain but would be very grateful for any advice

Thank you

I'm no expert and haven't had any problems updating my Vega so I've no knowledge or experience of this. Looks as if the flash hasn't work correctly in some way. If I were you I would try flashing again. Also make sure your not plugged into the mains (charging) once your finished flashing. There have been alot of reports of users having touch problems (inc me) whilst plugged in.

Thanks deb626 for your suggestion but have already tried that :)

I managed by luck rather than judgement to get the debugging icon to scroll down off the taskbar and disable but when i done another flash i have the same problems as above and the debugging icon was back on again. i cant get the vega to go through the setup wizard hence to get it to disable debugging before starting a new recovery

that looks like a succesfull flash of the 1.06.5 image from what you've posted - mine was pretty much the same as that.

Once mine is flashed, i always remove the mains power as there is an issue with the touch screen when its charging.

Then just go back through the startup wizard and restore any apps that were backed up.

Thanks monkeyboy for your response that the flash looks ok,but i have tried it with mains in/out but cannot get pass setupwizard (as screen is not very responive to touch) will not register touch on agree in EULA.Going to discharge the battery and try.

Well i reflashed again, still the screen on setup wizard does not respond to touch so cannot go any further and noticed the volume up botton on the side sticks .Looks like a return to currys is in order.I really enjoyed the short time i had with it but in two minds to go for an exchange or refund after this.

You may have already tried this but have you tried rolling back to 1.04 ?

Also try giving the screen a good clean

Once again thanks debs626 just tried that and flashed ok and rebooted but still will not respond to setup wizard and once again when connect usb, taskbar shows usb icon and debugging icon. im a novice but i think that having it in debugging mode when originally doing the 1.06 update has caused this problem

When the device is connected to your PC, you are supposed to see the USB icon in the notification bar though.

I did have an issue the other day when I disconnected the vega from the pc and both icons stayed in the notification bar - but they both disappeared quickly enough after a hard shutdown - hold power button for 6 seconds, then powered on again.

Cheers monkeyboy, agree the usb icon should show but the debugging icon is also on show.Tried numerous hard shutdowns to no avail :)

yes mate by doing it either way, connected or not the touch on the screen is not responsive the way it should be, hence i cannot get past setup and on the odd occassion when englishuk responds to touch it's a nightmare to scroll the screen down on the EULA to the agree button and it does not respond to agree(have tried numerous presses and leaving it for a while and pressing, still no joy)

bugger - definately sounds like you might have an issue with the touch screen then.

Time to take it back to a Currys/PCWorld for a refund or exchange I think. There should be new stock coming soon I think.

Edit: Was it all working nice and fine when you took it out the box initially and went through everything fine?
