app2sd card format problem

Hi I just got a 32 gb class 4 micro sd card and I'm having problems formatting the ext2 partition. I do everything to the T but after minitools formats the 500 mb partition I made the format of the partition shows up as OTHER an not ext2. And when I try to install app2sd afterwards the script says unable to mount ext2 partition and fails to install. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
