Guest iceman9899 Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) Hello, I've just installed Paul's 2.1 ROM through his guide above- thanks very much to everyone who worked on this, it's worked a charm and I'm very pleased! However, there are two minor niggles. I liked the ZTE Alarm Clock App (which is missing from the 2.1 ROM)! Is there any way that I can reinstall it? fixed. Also, as thankful as I am to Modaco for the ROM I don't really like the bootanimation, is there a way of changing this (preferably to the stock Android bootanimation)? - Go here: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1441138 I've noticed that Sebastian's ROM includes both the stock bootanimation a nd the Alarm Clock app, but I will lose all my user settings if I install that (I've had the phone for a couple of months now and don't really want to do that!). Thanks very much again for any help. :) Edited December 17, 2010 by iceman9899

So, it's just the boot animation left? Any suggestions for that? Thanks!

If so get your chosen bootanimation.zip (there's a thread with a load if you're struggling to choose) and push it to /system/media. There are plenty of simple explanations of the syntax if you google it. The other method is to use an update.zip for clockworkmod. I've attached a sample one (modified from a framework update), you can just find the zip inside and switch it for one you want. Then it should work if you install with clockwork.BootAnim_only.zip

Thanks for the reply. I've tried doing this but I couldn't get it to work! Has the ROM had done something special to the bootanimation? I tried: "adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip" "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip" and your zip file via clockworkmod but I still get this blooming Modaco splashscreen when I load up! :)

I think the location might be different. IIRC, you need to open framework-res.apk (it's basically a zip) and drop in the .pngs ending in 1-24 from inside bootanimation.zip/part0. Look up the old thread about it.

Aha, after googling "framework-res.apk" and the like I found this: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1441138 (which is possibly the old thread you're talking about?) I followed that tutorial and it's worked perfectly. Thanks again for your help.
