Guest deadite66 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 so does 2.3 support dual core?
Guest removed-14 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Stuff Gingerbread. Honeycomb should be the one us Vega owners are most looking forward to.
Guest warriorscot Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Honeycomb isn't here yet and gingerbread has a tonne of improvements for tablets it should keep us going till we see the real good stuff in 3.0. Looking forward to getting gingerbread on the vega.

Guest danielj58 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 What tablet specific improvements are there? Support for large screen devices, or something or other, is the big one I think. It will defiantly be worth while investing time into getting it up and running on the Vega when Advent drop the kernel on us :)
Guest warriorscot Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Proper large screen support is the big one along with full support of software buttons rather than the hacked up 2.2 we are all using on the vega and similar devices. It was designed on tablets unlike other android devices so no more shoe horned features it should be much more streamlined. It also has some better hardware support and the beginnings of the redo of the media handling although from what I have read it will be honeycomb that has the rework media framework we all want.
Guest OwenRW Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 If you've seen the video of Andy demoing the Motopad with 3.0, it's said that it's based on the Tetra platform, which would be good for the Vega.
Guest removed-14 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) From everything I've read the average user wont even be able to tell the difference... I still think Advent should miss gingerbread and focus on honeycomb. Especially as they are a small team. Leave 2.3 to the hackers to get onto the Vega. The difference of 2.2 to 2.3 is tiny compared to 2.2 to 3.0, particularly as 3.0 is solely intended for the larger screened Android devices. Edited December 18, 2010 by removed-14

That would be all well and good, but unless 3.0 is released already, what can they focus on? The important thing for us is to get kernel source as that would allow anyone to port any version of Android to it...
Guest rferrett Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 "From everything I've read the average user wont even be able to tell the difference.." Really you reckon? I think the screen resolution stuff could make a big difference to the vega. We shall see eh? Mind you I could very much live with it is Advent annouced they were not going to bother with Gingerbread but promised we would get Honeycomb. Still if the Notion Ink Adam turns out to be real I might have one of them by then!
Guest removed-14 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 It is real, preorders have started.
Guest gingercat Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 It is real, preorders have started. Not that I doubt it is real, but preordering being available hardly constitutes evidence of its existence! Once someone, anyone (!) outside NI actually gets their hands on one of the pads, that'll make a lot of people breathe easier.
