Phone shuts down (seemingly) randomly

Hi all

I've developed a problem with my SanFran. Every now and again (usually once or twice a day), my phone will shutdown and leave me with a blank screen. It always seems to be noticed when resuming from sleep via the power button. I know there's a problem like this with the 2.2 ROMs, but I've only been running MCR r4 and the "de-orangeated" ROM from Sebastian404 (both 2.1) and it's affected me on both. I'm got an OLED device and don't have NoLED installed, so I can rule out the similar TFT issue.

I've also ruled out a battery issue as when my phone is in this situation, I can hammer the power button a few times to power it back up again, and the phone will have plenty of juice left. If I plug it whilst it's in this state, it'll power up again too. I can't check the logfile with adb because as far as that's concerned, it's turned off.

I guess it must be an issue with an application I've got installed, but they're all standard apps available from the market and they're all up to date.

Does anyone have any idea on how I'd go about debugging this?

EDIT: When I say power up, I do mean by doing a full boot. When the phone has a black screen, it appears to actually be fully shut down as though I'd told it to power off.

Would you mind listing all the apps you have?

Then we'd be able to see if anyone else has any problems.

Certainly. Worth asking though, is there a quick (or proper) way to do this rather than just going into the applications list and noting them all down?

I've ripped that from the market list, so no doubt there'll be more "behind the scenes" installations, but these will be from the ROM.

EDIT: Just another observation... it seems to happen more frequently (but not exclusively) when I'm out of the house, so I'm thinking it might be an internet connected app that's freaking out. I use WiFi extensively, but I don't have a data connection enabled so these applications would not be able to get internet access at these times.

Im running the MCR r4 OLED rom.

Ah thats the common phone screen freezing, you can wake the phone up by

1. Plugging it in to charge

2. Plugging it into the PC

3. Hard reset

Solution:

1. Install new ROM, 2.1 seems to be most stable

I experienced this tonight with seb r8 de-orangeated ROM.

Phone in pocket but in a very warm room, gas fire on full, then i had black screen after tapping power button. Had to take out battery then it booted up ok.

Had my phone for a week now and this is the first time its happened. Ive took off the couple of apps that i installed from market.

I did have the CustomBladeVillain RSL4 for the first 3 days with no problems but after that ive been trying out all kinds of roms so no time to see if they are stable.
