Unable to download apps from Market

I am able to connect to the Market apps but when I choose to download an app, it just sits there saying its downloading but there's no progress.

I am also seeing unable to parse this package using apps from ADVERTISING SPAM.net to upgrade existing apps.

Please help.

I had this problem someone here suggested I change my google account from goolemail to gmail and download on 3G the first time. Did that and it worked.

I ended up restoring the phone using a stock rom and then rebuilding and customising it back with market working - what a pain that was!
