Problems playing video

Is anyone else having isues playing Video?

I regularly get the message "Sorry this video cannot be played" on known good (& corrupt free) avi files, that play back OK on my PC, Windows 6.5 HTC HD2, & Western Digital Media player.

If I google this problem, it appears that many Android users get this, so I am wondering:-

(1) Will the Advent Vega play back AVI video files?

(2) If YES - what video player should I use?

Thanks

if 1 video player doesn't play a video file in android most likely none will, since they all use codecs built into the rom.

also, avi says nothing about whether it can be played or not.

avi is just the box the video comes in, you need to know the actual codec used.

i do know that stock android comes with very few built-in codecs, and it's up to manufacturers/rom builders to add more.

The stock movie player should play most avi's (xvid/divx work fine for me) but there are a few players that have more inbuilt codecs (as mentioned in the last post) built in to some of the players available online/in the market. I personally use NSWplayer and Rockplayer.

I'm hoping down the line that mkv playback will be improved as I can get 720p quality ones to play but go out of sync straight away.

As mentioned on a different thread for now using TVersity on my home pc to stream videos to the Vega via flash, all play perfectly then, even full 1080p mkv files! :)
