How do I apply 2.29 update on rooted desire

Hi, me again, as I've mentioned many times I'm rather new to all this sort of thing. My questions is:

I have rooted my desire with a stock htc rom...it reports that the 2.29 update is available but this will not, of course, work on my desire. So is there any way I can apply the update, and the radio rom/ril update as well, without having to completely re-flash the rom...I don't want all the hasle of having to set my phone up from scratch again, I just want to apply the update.

Also, as my laptop and ms office are both 64bit, I can't sync my contacts using HTC sync because it doesn't work with outlook 64bit...which is one other reason I don't want to start from scratch.

2. Flash it

Really the only way, or get a cutom ROM based on 2.29
