I've bought the blade a few weeks ago, to replace my HTC Touch HD and although I'm very impressed with the phone I have a problem because listening to music it's just awful. It's very low, sounds like there's a channel missing or something I can hear certain instruments way low in the background, if I unplug the jack out slightly I get a glimpse of how the music it's supposed to sound and if I fully plug it in, goes back to the same old crappy sound, I've tried several headsets including the one that came with the phone and they're all the same. Is this a problem with the handset it self? Can I download an app to rectify this? Or can anyone recommend a headset that will sound properly with the blade? I love this phone but need to get a solution for this otherwise gonna have to swap it for another phone. Thanks in advance guys.

does anyone else has the same problem?

It should be low volume, but sound decent enough. Go download poweramp, put the preamp to full, and put the EQ setting for loudness on. If there you're sure there is a channel missing, with all your headphones, the phone is broken.

Ok I've spent a few days with various audiofilters and I've found what seems to be the best combination so far.

audio_boost.zip

Download and flash through Clockwork recovery. Make a nandroid backup first so you can go back to the original files if you want to.

The files are based on G7 r1v2 audio filters from XDA and I've added the headset & BT audio boost. On maximum volume with headphones I get no distortion at all. I can't set the volume any higher without introducing distortion so this will probably the best anybody can do.

Through the speaker it's not too bad. Some very slight distortion at maximum volume but it certainly sounds a little louder than it used to. The volume level through headphones is definitely increased though.

Try this, It worked for me.

thanks for this, the sound quality has improved dramatically, but i can still hear some instruments louder than others in the mix, for example let's say in a sax solo, i can barely hear it it's distant and it sounds like it has a delay effect on it and the rest of the instruments are now loud enough, pretty annoying

Unfortunately I think it is actually the phone, I am used to my iPod and Harmon Karden sound system, and I notice a difference, I cannot actually use the phone as an audio player as I am used to such high quality, so I always carry a MP3 with me.

Well, It's an issue on my blade :)

the irony, the reason why I got a new phone is because the jack socket on my touch hd became loose and only the left channel worked, oh well, thanks anyway folks.

hey, just to let you know that I've tried some old sony ericsson stock headphones that I had lying around the house and the sound is much much better at least on par with my old HTC Touch HD and it's much louder too, so I think it's a matter of getting the right headset, just can't understand why the blade stock headphones don't work properly, anyway, just thought i should let you know, cheers.

have you used bluetooth okay? i find its crappy and the signal randomly drops out then refuses to reconnect

I'm thinking of creating a short extender lead that will take the more standard jacks - unless someone already knows of a suitable extension cable?

Apart from this, the WiFi problems and the fact the processor won't run Flash its still a great phone. Especially if you got £47 off from your girlfriends phone fund! :)

never used a bluetooth headset with the blade, used to use it with the touch hd and worked fine, but never been a big fan of them, prefer wired.
