5MP Version of ZTE Blade and Custom Roms

Hi all. I have the 5 megapixels version of camera on my zte blade and whenever I install a custom rom or Android 2.2 roms; my Camera won't be functioning... Is it because of most roms are made out of 3 mp cam version blades or what? Can I find a custom rom for 5 mp? I have the Finnish Saunalahti rom.

Finnish Fillyjonk is best 2.1 rom and if you install original_kernel from the addons then your camera will work but then you cant overclock

Thanks for the response. I'm not looking forward to overclock since it's capable of handling anything I want. I just want its 5mp camera to work with custom Roms and not sure where to start.

I just couldn't manage to root the finnish (stock) rom.

What about the fact that japan is coming out with the softbank libero 003Z, their own version of zte blade. It has a TFT screen, 512 mB internal memory, 5 megapixel camera, and android 2.2. My saunalahti blade in finland has a TFT screen, 512 mB internal memory, 5 megapixel camera, but android 2.1. So, does this mean that if i install this libero softbank 003Z's rom onto my saunalahti blade, i can get android 2.2 without any problems like the camera not working or the screen not working because it is, in a sense, the same exact phone otherwise? I read some comments where Finnish guys with the saunalahti blade tried installing orange san fransico's 2.2 update, and they lost their camera and the screen didnt work well because orange has 3.2 megapixel camera and OLED screen. I was just wondering if something equivalent might happen if i did this with my saunalahti blade and downloaded the similar libero softbank rom, instead of the orange san fransico rom.

looks like we are on the same boat. 2.2 runs faster on our boosted version of zte and its being shipped with 2.1. pathetic

Why not try out? You can reflash the original Finnish firmware, if it doesn't work. But if it does, that would be cool! Do you have a link for the Japanese ROM?

Hei, I am from Finland too . I have the same problem as you meet . The camera does not work ,and screen frozen after phone locked .

by the way , what kind of 3G package do you use ? Nopsa ?

the fact is that i dont want to start adding these roms onto my sauna blade until some other people have tried it and it works. I dont want to screw with the factory settings yet, until there is an official release or it has been working for a lot of other people. IF you other finnish saunalahti guys download the japanese rom, let me now how it goes. And no i dont know where i can find the japanese version of the blade's (libero softbank 003Z) rom, can enybody help us to locate it

I have saunalahti blade and with that FF RLS3 camera won't work, but I don't care about that.

There is also the original kernel addon for FF3 -- re-enabling the camera, but losing the overclock capability.

Its also important for people to know/understand that a backup taken with Clockwork (a "nandroid' backup) takes a snapshot of the entire state of the phone's (not the sdcard's) software and data.

Restoring from that backup takes you back, exactly, to the way you were before.

Thus it makes exploring new options a no-risk adventure!

Just flash the FF RLS3 ROM after that flash that original kernel addon, it's that easy...

I'm goint to spend the next five months in Finland, and really would like to buy a Blade model.

I don't mind the SIM lock, but i really can't sign a 2 years contract, i'd prefer shorter contract period or a prepaid solution if there is any possibilities.

What are my options? I have read that Saunalahti couldn’t continue to sell the phone:

Saunalahti/Elisa is the only company in finland which sells the phone with a 5 megapixel camera. All of the other phones sell with 3.2 megapixel cameras. Otherwise they are the exact same phone. You cannot get any contract periods here in finland under 12 months, i think. So, if you really want a Blade, you can buy it from teleFinland off contract with 3.2 megapixels. I dont know the situation with sonera. After you have bought the blade, you can buy prepaid minutes from wherever. IF you must insist on a 5 megapixel version, you should wait about a month so that saunalahti/elisa will catch up to the demand, then buy it off contract from elisa.

sorry sorry, i have today found out that tele is also sold out of the phone and are not selling it anymore because they could not keep up with the demand. Because of this, it is pretty safe to assume that sonera is also sold out. On the other hand, the orders are backed up by about a month so probably in February they will start selling again normally in all places. If they dont start selling again normally, there is always the auction which the other guy explained

go to swedish site www.tradera.se (owned by ebay nowadays) and search for ZTE Blade and you find the phone with 5mp camera. I'll buy one of them tonight if the price is right..
