Pulse FLB-MOD 1.5 But No Root

I have bought a T-mobile Pulse that has FLB-Mod 1.5 installed. It appears that the phone had root priviledges as WIFI tether, Titanium Backup etc are installed but when I try to SU its a no go.

I am new to android phones and am now unsure about flashing new ROMS am I better to go back to standard T-Mobile December ROM and start again or can the root issue be fixed?
