Maps and navigation not working after updating to froyo (GPS is though!)

Hi folks,

So managed to update the SF to 2.2 the other night and have also managed to use titanium backup to reinstigate most of my apps - not a difficult experience so thanks to all the bright folks and generous advice on this forum.

Right, problem - cannot get the navigation (google) app to work as it gets stuck on the 'searching for location' window. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing I've managed to get google maps to work. I also use gps checker so I know that there is a good signal. Obvious google's 'Car Home' won't access navigation either.

I'm assuming that this is to do with using an old version or some preferences that are conflicting with 2.2 - however, can seem to see google navigation as one of the applications that I can uninstall and get from the app store?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Suns

I am in the same situation.

I was running Paul's 2.1 R3 release and had Google Maps, Latitude, Nav all working and since having moved to 2.2 R3 Prebake I have been having major issues with GPS, My Location never being picked up. Although this did work for a while shortly after going to 2.2.

I have tried clearing cache reboots and un-installing Google Maps Updates, but nothing seems to have worked.

I have read others running Froyo and Google 5 and everything working fine.

I understand that R3 is ALPHA, but as this is working for others hopefully someone will be along in a while who may be able to make some suggestions to us who are experiencing issues.

Thanks All.

Still having issues. However, my initial assumption wasn't correct. The GPS is definitely working - what's not is the ability for google to show the map location. My first location (ie. my house) was downloaded via wifi - as soon as I'm out of wifi range and travelling outwith the area that the map has drawn I'm left with a location arrow (that moves with the car's position) but without any map - so I'm on an empty grid.

This happened to me once before, but I can't remember exactly how I got it going! Don't think this is to do with the froyo release, but more to do with preferences remembered from the previous installation. Can anyone point to which files are to be deleted... maybe via linking the SD card to a computer and deleting the files directly???

Ahh, got it - hopefully this will help somebody out there. The reason why this may not be such a big issue to the majority of users out there is to do with the APNs. I use Asda's network which is part of the vodaphone coverage (in the same way that Tesco's is o2 etc.).

So when I updated to froyo the APN settings for Adsa were wiped. The reason why I still could get access to data was through my wifi and the APN for vodaphone handled the web settings - however, they aren't the correct ones for Asda's mobile data which meant that maps couldn't pull in the data when I was out and about.

Another thing to be wary of is that you need to remove all other apns - I used APN backup and restore to remove them and then manually added the TWO asda APNs (one for web, one for mms) - if the vodaphone apn is left it it gets confused (well that's what happened last time).

Hope that helps!
