No subdirectories in my data folder? wifi problem

I've just installed CM6 V0.4. It's a T Mobile Pulse so I went from 1.5 to the UK 2.1, then FLB 1.5 then to CM6.

I can't get my wifi to work, after some searching I found the below thread.

http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...-on-cm6-solved/

The syptoms are exactly the same as my problem so I thought it would be an easy fix - seems not :)

On my Pulse, I don't have a /data/misc/wifi folder, I have a data folder, but there's no subdirectories in it at all?

My wpa_supplicant.conf file sits in my /system/etc/wifi folder and I can't remove the file from there using terminal.

Firstly, why does my Pulse seem to have a different directory structure to Richard Arkness's Pulse (creator of the CM6 0.40 rom)?

Are my missing folders (/data/misc/wifi ) and the fact that the wpa_supplicant.conf file is in the wrong folder the reason that my wifi won't work.

More importantly, is there anything I can do to sort this? Can I create the folders manually and shift the file myself somehow.

Appreciate any thoughts on this - my Blade is under the Christmas tree and this is the Pulse's last stand, the CM6 rom puts it ahead of the SF Blade, but the lack of wifi could relegate it to the 'spare' drawer ;)

You spelt my name wrong :D "Firstly, why does my Pulse seem to have a different directory structure to Richard Arkless's Pulse (creator of the CM6 0.40 rom)?"

And let me correct some things the wpa_supplicant.conf in system/etc/wifi pretty much tells the device where to store the wpa wifi configuration which is in /data/misc/wifi, the first time you attempt to connect to a wifi connection it should at least create that file for you, I thought about it and decided maybe it would fix itself if I changed the location to somewhere else so chose /data/system/wpa_supplicant, like it is on other devices and roms which didnt work for you

I have thought about it and maybe creating the folder structure and put an empty file inside it called wpa_supplicant.conf will fix the problem but im not sure because ive never seen this problem happen for other people

EDIT: it could be a permissions problem where it doesnt have the write permissions to create the folder structure and the file but if it was this problem other people would be complaining about it not just you

Did you say that you are having this problem in the original cm6 port rom

you will have to create them in the terminal so

su

mkdir -p /data/misc/wifi/

and just in case

mkdir -p /data/system/wpa_supplicant

I dunno if it will then create the file wpa_supplicant.conf for you but if it doesnt then cd into those 2 directories and type

su

touch wpa_supplicant.conf

I created the 2 directories then rebooted and that seems to have done it, wifi is working again, the Pulse will be able to square up the Blade whe it arrives.

Many thanks Richard.
