Guest twrock Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Panic set in minutes ago when I had a popup tell me that Swype has expired. And sure enough, it won't swype any more. Anyone else have this? Anyone else heard this was coming? Anyone else have the good news that we "beta testers" are invited to download a newer version? Anyone have word that it is out of beta and available for purchase? Please, someone tell me some good news! :) (Yes, I am a fully addicted Swype junkie. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it.)
Guest twrock Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Whew! I guess I just beat them to the announcement. No email from them yet, but a new version is out and works. I just used the installer link from the email I got back in September. Everything worked without a problem. Looks like the installation/licensing is a bit more complex now. I'm not sure about other improvements.
Guest AntonioPT Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 BTW, Swype beta is now open for everybody! :)
Guest twrock Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 BTW, Swype beta is now open for everybody! :) That's the best news yet! Where did you find that, and what does that mean for the future of Swype? I really hope they let me pay for it soon so that I can be a little more assured it won't "expire" again.
Guest Daz555 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Not used Swype for ages. Be interesting to see how later versions compare to Shapewriter which up until now I have preferred. I'll give it a go.

I saw it on this Gizmodo article yesterday, but I have no idea what does it mean for the future of Swype. I don't understand their business model!
