How to force market update?

A week after I received the android market update with new UI, I decided to re-flash the phone, failed, and restored it from a backup. After that, I again received a market update due to market being an old version. I then again proceeded to fiddle around with phone, resulting in me having to do another backup, after which I no longer received the market update, been 3 days now. Should I wait a bit longer or is there a way to force the market to download an update?

If you do a quick search there was a thread from a week or two ago where someone had posted the APK for the new market app. Download, search with a file manager and run. That should do it for you.

Hm, tried the above .apk, however when attempting to install it just says "Application not installed" after a few seconds. I did try to kill the market process too.. I guess I am stuck with old market till I flash a new rom :)

do i have to do an adb push in system/app ?
