Vega screen issue - Help

Hi Guys,

I've just received my Vega. When I switched it on and it booted it asked me to select the language, I noticed the screen was very unresponsive, then it took me to the EULA screen and the scrolling was erractic, when I finally got down to the bottom of the EULA to the 'Agree' button, when I click this button nothing happens. Seems that there is an issue with the screen :) Is there any thing I can do to make this work or is it faulty and needs to go back? Also has anyone else experienced this?

TIA

I guess you've tried rebooting and wiping the screen, if so it sounds broken to me.

I had similar screen problems and not sure if perfect but did notice 100% improvement after cleaning screen. I noticed when cleaning that screen protector had left residue strips where stuck. could not see these before but wet cloth exposed these. probably better safer way to clean though than wet. cloth

Yeah tried re-boot and cleaned the screen thoroughly but no luck. It like the left half of the screen works but the right doesn't. Oh well very disappointed, back to Currys I suppose :)

Quite frankly I'm amazed at Currys for sending out faulty units, especially on the mounth of Xmas. Where's the quality control? Something as major as the screen not working should have been picked up.

This was an Xmas present so I'm screwed. Can't exchange it as there is no stock, what a joke.

This has well and truly put me off the Vega, you don't expect to pay £249.99 and the thing don't work.

Every piece of Tech has a certain failure/dead on arrival rate whether you pay £250 or £1000. The amount of things I have purchased over the years that have been faulty out of the box is silly but it can happen to anything.

Hi all. I recieve my unit today. First boot ok. I updated to official 1.06.5 and after that I get exactly the same problem. To be more acurate:

- Select language screen: Works in protrait mode, but don't work in lanscape.

- EULA screen: Is forced to lanscape and behave exactly like you said. Sluggish scroool and I can't click the "agree" button.

So... is some sort of software problem? Maybe our new ones comes with the 1.06.5 and re-update broke something????

You could try flashing the old version 1.04 onto it and see what happens.............

Hi Guys,

Something weird is happening. Last night I thought I would give it one last go. I switched it on, selected the language, took me to the eula screen, but this time the screen seemed ok and I could press the 'agree' button. Woohoo the screen seemed fine and responsive everything was working. I installed the baked rom, which I must say is wicked, and it was working fine. I was very impressed with it. Went to sleep, woke up, got the pad to show my wife, but couldn't unlock the screen. It seem over night the screen problem came back :). It seems to me that the issue isn't as serious as I first thought, it worked last night perfectly but not this morning. Does any one know how I can get it working perfectly again? Where can I get the 1.04 rom that What If mentions above?

I was so impressed with it while it was working last night that if there is a chance that I can get it working I don't want to sent it back.

any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tel

It could be temperature related. ie: house nice and warm when you tried it last thing, and cold in the morning. There might be a faulty component of joint that fails when cold - I've seen this quite a lot, particularly radio equipment. Stick it in the airing cupboard for an hour (assuming its warm and you have one) and then try it. If it is this sort of problem send it back. It will get worse and eventually fail completely.

For the 1.04 ROM goto http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/ and select the download tab.

Many thanks for the information, I'll try and warming it up to see if that theory works. There doesn't seem to be the 1.04 rom on http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/ website, only the 1.0.6.5. Does anyone know where I can download the 1.04 rom from?

Very interesting, I'll have a look when I get home and post it here.

I would love to test the 1.04 rom to see if that makes a difference. Please could someone advise where I can download it?

Merry Xmas,

Has it been plugged in every time you've had problems? My touchscreen seems pretty erratic when plugged in, but it's fine on battery.

I also had an issue where the centre of the screen was a dead zone, could drag icons to the centre ok, but once there I couldn't tap them or tap & hold them.

A reset did the trick (thankfully). s*** hope I haven't jinxed myself now...!

Hi,

The serial number is P10AN01AA461063.

Is this newer or older than your batch number?

Thanks

Terry

Hi,

No it wasn't plugged in while this has been happening. I've arranged for it to go back, they are picking up Monday (so they say). I've ordered another one from Currys. I really hope this one works tho'

No yours is much newer. His was 450032 I think. Still the same problem though is a bit of a worry, I flashed 1.04 but it made no difference.
