When I attempt to play .WMV files I get the sound but no picture, tried Rockplayer, yxplayer and stock, am I missing atrick, is there a codec needed or some other plug in to get this going?

Audio Attributes Say:

Duration 00:32:19

Bit Rate: 91Kbs

Audio Sample Rate: 16 Bit

Channels: 1 (Mono)

Audio Sample Rate: 22kHz

The Video Attributes say:

Data Rate: 20KBS

Video Sample Size: 24Bit

Stream Name: Video2

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

I don't think wmv files are supported by Android. I had the same problem trying to play wmv files on my HTC Desire using Rockplayer aswell, got sound but only a green blocky picture. You'll probably need to convert the wmv file to mp4 format.

ACtually, using rockplayer I seem to have no issues with wmv files... There is an occasional exception of course but the few I tried usually work fine.

Ohh...not sure why its not working with me and the OP. I'm trying to watch the last episode of The Apprentice downloaded from the BBC site. It says to open up the file using WMP to download the DRM license and then transfer it over. I've done that but still no luck.

What version of Rockplayer dagrim1?

It sounds to me like its a DRM issue. You could always try handbrake to convert it if the file won't load into handbrake then it would be a DRM problem

DRM? Hmmm it plays fine on some players including VLC - was hoping to use the Vega for my study which is Computer Based Training (CBT's) packed into WMV files, would make the training material nice and portable!

1.51 atm I believe... but worked fine with others as well. Did have an issue where I had to use software decoding instead of hardware decoding with one file... but worked fine.

But yeah, DRM files could be an issue of course... All my files are just unprotected files.

Cheers All - will do some digging etc...should have some time over Christmas to spend analysing what will and wont play and if necessary I will convert the files, though it will be a pain at least it would give me the portability I want :)
