Number of Messages received shown in message icon?

Hi,

My husband has got a HTC desire. When he gets a message, it displays the number of messages received in the message icon on the homescreen. Have just got a San Francisco which we have put the Sebastian's Rom on, but it doesn't show number of messages received in the message icon. Is this possible? Thank you in advance.

If you use Launcerpro you can. No idea on stock launcher.

Use app called "No Led" from market and set it up to use Icons then it will show the number of texts, emails, missed calls and such.

I use handcent and it gives you the option to display the number of messges...
