Black screen

Hi everyone just got my vega today

I hope am not being stupid but i cant get it to turn on.

Power cable is in everything is were it should be

on pressing the power button i can see the screen go darker.

but thats as far as it goes.

Is there a way to reset it or have i recieved a dead one :S

Try holding the power button for about 4 seconds and then release it should burst slowly into life else charge for a few hours and try again. Have been one or two DOA machines but quite rare. Good luck :)

Still nothing :D

has been on the charge for over 3 hours

blue led is on

I will be really disapointed if its faultys as everything i have ever bought from the retailer seems to be :)

I have tried holing it down for 10 seconds also removed the sd card

think i might have to give up tonight.

OK come back tomorrow and hopefully someone can help you revive it I'm pretty sure :)

P.S. 10 seconds is too long you have to be very careful about how long you press the power button for else it turns it off completely. Four seconds is about right to turn it on then leave it alone and it should come up with an Advent logo.

if it wont start even plugged in then im afraid it looks like its DOA, get on the phone immediately, hopefully they can work there ass off to get you a replacement....

im still waiting for mine in the post!

Given the recent cold snap I am surprised more Vegas aren't turning up DOA most electronics will operate at 0 or a little bellow but when it gets down to minus 10 at night things start to get a little flaky. Not saying that the cold did anything to it, it might just have been a bad unit it happens but it cold makes things worse.

If you get a vega in the post don't turn it on right away let it warm up slowly to something approaching room temperature before doing anything with it.

I got it this morning and left it in the house all day.

was meant to be keeping it to christmas day but thought i would get a sneek peak lol

really not impressed hopefully they can sort me out something very quickly.

When powering on, the screen should go lighter as the backlight switches on, not darker..

But if you've held the power button for 6 seconds, the unit will hard power off, then wait a couple of seconds, then hold the power button for 1 second to power on,, a quick press doesn't always work for me, and as mentioned, the screen backlight should come on, making the screen look lighter when powered on.

If all the above fails it may be worth doing what Spacecowboy suggested recently for his bricked Vega :-

"I have fixed this... If its on any use to anyone take out the power cable and the sd card if your having problems with nvidia recovery."

Then retry power up

Update:- Sorry see you've already tried this hmmm I'm running out of ideas

i do have flash the Custom ROM r5, after that i have installed few games , everything is working fine,

but sometime the device will crashed, so i have to hold the power button for few second to trun off it and turn on it again,

laste night , it was low bettery, so i have trun off the device, charged it,

when i wake up this morning, it has not be able trun on, that mean is when powering on, the screen go lighter as the backlight switches on, not darker.

but there is no advent logo or anything else can display, can not boot to android system, tried to use "adb devices" see if it can connect with usb cable or not, but it seems not working, can not found the device.

i've held the power unit will hard power off, then wait about mins, then power on again, still not working :'-(

so does anyone know how to fix it?

I had the same as this, the only way to recover it was to put it info program mode ( power off. Hold back for 2 seconds, press power for 2 seconds ( keep holding back), release power , then release back 2 seconds later. If connected to a pc , you will hear the sound when the USB sees the Vega. Assuming you have right USB driver installed, re flash with the latest release from Advent page. I did this, then put on the mod pack and performance pack, followed by clock work mod. I had backed up the unit using the clockwork recovery previously, but on restoring this the unit would not boot, it would just get to the booting..... screen. So I had to repeat the above without restoring my backup which is a pain. Anyone know why these units are failing like this, as if I loose all my stuff again, I'm getting rid!

Is it a different version if you download through rom manager rather than the one pinned?

thanks , i have fixed it, first of all , need to re-install the 1.04 (uninstal the Clockwork) , and then upgrade to new version, install the Performance Pack again :-)

Ive had mine for a couple of weeks but yesterday the screen jest refuses to come looks dead as. I can re flash but it makes no odds the screen still stays back. At least its not just me. Who did you ring Diablo about getting it sent back? I cant believe how long your going to have to wait.

I tried again this morning before I rang up to get it returned. The way the light was hitting it I could just make out the power off dialog box, but it was so faint. So its definatly a hardware issue, most likely the power inverter. I wonder if this is the same problem in others?

I just phoned pc world... They will arrange for a swap, but they cant do it until tomorrow, and they currently have no stock so they dont know when ill receive the new one. Shocking!
