i've asked acer uk support about froyo official release for acer liquid a1 and this is what thet answer:

"As of now Acer has released 2.1 eclair android version 1.04.3006 for liquid smart phone.

To inform you, few models have the latest operating system/ ROM available online depending on the configuration the liquid smart phone can be upgraded.

Some of the models don't have the latest ROM published on our web site www.acer.co.uk ,since the models might not be capable of handling new ROM versions.

As of now we have released kernel source code in our website to download and install. We recommend you to try downloading the kernel source for kernel version upgrade. However we might surely release 2.6.32 kernel upgrade for this model.

We might surely release the latest android 2.2 version for smart phone Liquid model as soon as possible.

Google has released new android ROM versions, deployment of release versions on Acer smart phone products would vary with models.

Our efforts are being kept to release the latest 2.2 version for liquid smart phone models ,web site team is already been working on the issue...."

and when i reply with direct question about froyo and gingerbread for liquid they Answer:

"We understand your concern. As mentioned earlier our development and research team are working on this issue to release froyo 2.2 for Acer liquid smart phone.

As of now we haven't got any update on ginger bread 2.3, we request you to keep in touch with our website, for further updates and new releases.

This is very promising... but I don't get what they mean by "might surely"... a bit of a contraddiction there... will they SURELY release .32 kernel, or they MIGHT release it, if they feel like it? Or it's just some corporate bullshit from a tech support guy that has no idea what he's talking about? Time will tell I guess...

i agree with you and maybe they won't make a .32 kernel for our liquid...i hope they'll do but the answer of acer support is too vague..it's like who answers doesn't know what acer is doing

i'm happy about second answer on acer when they say that their team is working on froyo for liquid!that's a good news

No. There is no 2.2 kernel source for Liquid, there is only 2.1 source for Liquid and 2.2 source for Liquid MT

I am sorry to say, but this probably means nothing. They already said on their facebook that they had "tried" putting it on a1 but it was too slow... and no, they have not released kernel source, and I dont believe they have any reason to upgrade to .32 kernel :)

Sounds like a tech support person who has no idea what they're talking about... just putting words together to sound knowlegeable. It doesn't specify Liquid E or liquid A1, I'm guessing it's only for E by the leaks available. Also there has not been any slight clue of a 2.6.32 kernel from Acer (it's probably easier and quicker to just get previous 2.6.29 kernels to run on new hardware than to start with a new 2.6.32 source. Plus we already have 2.2 & Liquid Metal Roms running on even an A1, and pretty darn fast too, so running too slow is BS or a clueless statement.

I totally agree

We already have these MODs. Any official release from Acer won't do us anything better.

Kernel source is always nice to have :)
