Guest jnash123 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 i would like to get the best out of the battery like any other of my devices! just opened it and the charge is at 99% i dont want to put the charger in intil it has completely died! can i run the firmware update without the charger, or shall i wait until it has one complete cycle? and then do it thanks in advance
Guest thedicemaster Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 actually, to enter recovery mode for updating you need to have it plugged in. i'm pretty sure that with this battery it doesn't matter much how you treat it. i get at least 10 hours with full charge, screen on, wifi on(but not in active use) while listening to music, and i never did anything special to ensure a long batterylife.

Guest boffboff Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Just so you know, the MCR R5 add-on is not custom firmware, it's an add-on to the official firmware. You're right though, Recovery Mode is only when flashing an Advent (Stock/Official) firmware. USB Debugging mode needs to be enabled on the Vega when adding the MCR R5 add-on from Paul. But as a rule, I would always have the unit plugged in when doing any kind of flashing/upgrade/patching - just in case! The more you can reduce the chance of bricking it the better. Hope this helps.
