Root & Dell Streak 2.2 (Froyo)

Hello again everyone...

Another noob question here, but I still have to ask. Searching did not produce the answers I need.

When I was on Version 1.6 on my Dell Streak, I rooted it. After rooting, I had sporadic flashing of the home & Menu keys. No rhyme or reason, but they would. It worried me.

Now, for me to use ROM manager, I need to root my streak again, but am wondering if I'll have this same problem with the flashing buttons. My understanding of ROM manager is that it will create a backup of my current system, and allow me to install a new one, and I can revert back & forth as I deem necessary, as long as I make a backup of whatever ROM I'm using. This is correct?

DJ_Steve told me that I wouldnt' have to root to update from 2.2 to one of his versions (like 1.5 Gingerbread). How do I make a backup of my current ROM before trying to upgrade via Fastboot?

Thanks for any help on this question.

You must flash custom recovery and do a nandroid backup, than you have full backup of your phone and can allways return to it
