Thanks Seb,

If i were to do it myself, would I need to remove the installed Clockwork 1st though?

Saying that if you can produce an update for the Clockwork, that would be fantastic.

Many Thanks

LoA

you have won a prize.. you get to test this for me ;)

the usual applys, backup your stuff before you break it.. you should be able to write this over your old version of clockwork.... let me know how you get on :(

BTW, to the guy who asked about EXT3 support.....

If I can find someone with a TFT device to test it out for me, I will give it ago when I get some free time ....

Thanks Seb as I was the one (of) who asked for this. Could you release a OLED version in the meantime?

Yeah, right way up now..

Can I remove the old 2.5.0.9 img from the sd card?

Or am I way off, as it's needed?

Great stuff Seb

Thanks

Thanks Seb as I was the one (of) who asked for this. Could you release a OLED version in the meantime?

Given this ago.. I built a Kernel with EXT3 support.... it seems to work on my OLED device as usual..

I put a 2Gb card in to test it, and did 'Advanced -> Partition SD Card -> 512M (Ext Size) -> 0M (Swap)' and I got this:

~ # fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk0
fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk0

The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 61440.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

Command (m for help): p
p

Disk /dev/block/mmcblk0: 2013 MB, 2013265920 bytes
4 heads, 16 sectors/track, 61440 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 64 * 512 = 32768 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 1 45807 1465820 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 45807 61440 500259+ 83 Linux
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary

Command (m for help):
sort of looks ok... I think... not ideal with those warnings tho... so then..
~ # mkdir /tmp/test
mkdir /tmp/test
~ # mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /tmp/test
mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /tmp/test
~ # mount |grep /tmp/test
mount |grep /tmp/test
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /tmp/test type ext3 (rw,errors=continue,data=ordered)
~ # ls -l /tmp/test
ls -l /tmp/test
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 12288 Dec 27 00:34 lost+found
~ #

That looks like its formatted a ext3 partition to me....

So can someone confirm...

- Will it format your SD card as you'd want it too.

- Does it work with a TFT device?

- Anything else wrong with it?

UPDATE: file removed

It must use GMT which is set as default (build.prop) in Paul's 2.2.

It must use GMT which is set as default (build.prop) in Paul's 2.2.

it was i'm thinking i'm located on GMT +1

is it difficult to change this in build.prop ?

just edit the file ?

i found nothing about this in build.prop

Is this "experimental" version compatible with the TFT device as well?

i'd like to ask a certain thing, whether it would be possible to make my backup a flashable zip file?

i found flashing zips somehow way faster than restoring backups, which takes foooooreeeeevvveeeerrrrr

i can live with the method as it is aswell, if it's to complicated...

flashing your r0.2 rom as i write :(

Hmmm... have the TFT version of S.F Grey, did a

./fastboot-linux flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.8-blade.img
it does not seem responsive enough, like when I press the volume key to navigate the menu option, such as backup/restore, I hit home key (correct?) the screen goes blank and after pressing a key at random (volume, menu/home/return key) the backup screen appears.... what gives? but it responds anyway... it's just the screen blanks and no menu appears...

Have also noticed there's a couple of links within this thread pointing to clockwork 2.5.1.8 - can you clarify which one should be used... the first one or the one further in the thread marked experimental?

FYI I have overwrote the original clockwork 2.5.0.9...

I cannot reboot after performing a system backup.... home key does not work properly....or the screen blanks itself, hit any other button, still in the clockwork menu..... ;)

Great work by the way Sebastien... thanks! ;) ;)

P.S: Just discovered.... you have to hit home twice to select the option... Can live with that.... Cheers.... just be careful in thinking it's not working, hit the home button twice.... :(

- Screen correct way up

How? I've done some experimenting with the kernel when I was bored trying to accomplish this. I managed to the the "ANDROID" logo to turn 180 degrees but never the menus inside Clockwork.

- SDcard partitioning works as expected

Do you have EXT3 support in the kernel. If not, I'd be happy to compile an EXT3 capable zImage that you could use.
