Lockup of video player

I have two video players installed - the stock player and Rockplayer. Both play videos using hardware acceleration nicely. Most of the time. Sometimes, they will freeze and revert to software playback. I don't play many videos at the moment, nor do I reboot much (I'm wondering if this is the root cause of my issue).

It's happened twice now. A hard reboot clears the problem, but it shouldn't do it in the first place. Anyone esle seen this? Figured out a way to clear it without a reboot?
