Guest kfou Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Hey guys, first post, awesome site, alot of great info on here. I just got the Vega this afternoon and have been playing around with it non stop! Theres one thing bugging me though and thats how to get 3G on the vega... i know it doesnt come with 3g, but i have a HTC desire with unlimited data plan and was wondering if i could tether the 3g with the vega... I have downloaded pauls mod pack and got everything up to date... So just couple of minutes ago i downloaded Easy Tether from the market on the HTC and when i open the program it comes up with "whats the other device, Windows pc, mac, etc." Now this is where i have no idea what to do, i cant select windows pc because the vega is an android device, so does anyone know how i can use my htc 3g connection on the vega? Thanks in advance guys Edited December 23, 2010 by kfou
Guest removed-14 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 If your Desire has Android 2.2 then why not use the built in wifi tether?
Guest unholyimp Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 On the subject of tether. I have a zte blade/san fran with tft. Want to tether my vega any suggestions. Should I use a rom of 2.2 on the blade?
Guest MaxiP Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) If you don't want to change the ROM, try wireless_tether - works for me.wireless_tether_2_0_5_pre12.rar Edited December 24, 2010 by MaxiP

Guest kfou Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 If i use the wifi tether on my htc, doesn't orange charge for sharing the 3g?
Guest unholyimp Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 If i use the wifi tether on my htc, doesn't orange charge for sharing the 3g? I don't understand. How would they know? You are just turning you phone into a simple wifi so the data would still show up as data usage on the phone. Or have I got that wrong?

Yeah i know, thats exactly what i thought in the beginning...Then i googled it and alot of people get charged...I don't understand why you would get charged for using something you already pay to have...
Guest rferrett Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Personallyy I cannot understand why anyone with Froyo wouldn't just use the built in wifi tether. it is great.

No, providing you are connecting your Vega to phone via WiFi or Bluetooth. As has been said, there is no way to tell if the 3G data stream for for the phone or attached device. However, you are possibly in breach of the T&C's by doing this but they will only kno0w if you tell them.

Not bad for the equivalent of £6.25/month from a well known online mobile phone site with redemption and quidco cashback. Don't you just love gadgets....

Also why would they care even if they did know - unlimited (well these days anyway) means only 500 or 750 mb anyway so they going to cream it in if you start using more than your allowance what ever way you use it up - and if you start tethering then there is much more likelihood of going over so they should be happy
Guest unholyimp Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Yeah thanks for clearing that up. I know it probably breaches T&C's but so did recording off the radio to tape back in the old days and we all used to do that. And just what were double tape decks all about, if it wasn't about skating round T&C's :(

Hi, I'm planning to buy the Vega ( here called POV Mobii) and I want to make sure about this, some people in this forum are reporting problems with ad hoc wifi... Princeotter, did you tried it? I mean, does the wifi tether work with wildfire? if so, I'm just going tomorrow to get one :(
