i notice alot of people mention switching to 240 lcd density on their streaks.

I admit, this looks great and makes much better use of the big screen (instead of having a huge gap between icons), but is it safe?

I took mine to 220 once and it started acting funny, so i reverted to 160, i think a happy medium for me would be 180 or even 200, if its safe

its 100% safe, its best to modify the density using root explore and editing build.prop

only issue with 240dpi is the phone app , sometimes while on the phone it ask u to force close it, however u CAN finish the conversation then press the force close button, witch just closes the phone.

theres not many apps that support 160dpi so 240 is the way to go,

also download "dialer one" to replace the original phone because the original doesnt support 240 so the phone numbers are going to be way out of place

also once steve finishes MIUI we will have a working phone with out the force closing with a default of 240dpi so lets cross our fingers for a MIUI release =))

nothing will explode. 240dpi is the dell venue's. 160 is streak. i believe the 2 share very similar firmwares and even the dell stage works in only those 2 dpis.

Ok guys. Been running with 240 density since right after my op and havent had any issues. The phone force close kent a factor because i use my streak wiring only for now. May try to put it on a galaxy tab plan soon which will still be net only so still no issues with fc

You mention most apps not supporting 160 but give never had an issue with any app and give been running 160 since ive had the device.

Thanks for the info though

By finish the conversation, you mean within the next minute. Any longer and the app will close itself ending your call for you.

Plenty of games are designed for 240dpi. Depending on how they do animations, different dpi settings will screw up the app. The ING Direct app has weird issues at anything other than 240dpi where it works perfectly. I've noticed that a lot of the apps I'd gotten back on 1.6 that had issues at non-240dpi settings have either been updated so that it is not an issue or the versions available for post 2.1 devices have that issue fixed. Still, I have several now which will cause problems. I just hang on to them so that I can get updates which hopefully fix the problem, or if I switch to something like MIUI, I don't forget about them.
