Guest isambard Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Does anyone have both ZTE and iPad and a multi-meter? I wondered if the chargers were compatible i.e. simply swap the USB cable with a micro-USB cable when charging the ZTE.

Eg the USB charging gives a longer lasting full-charge but it takes longer to reach full. Check the voltages and see if the ipod one is the same or lower.
Guest deusum86 Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 ZTE needs 700 ma As stated above your post. the mA output doesn't really matter.... The more you have the faster the phone charges(it only takes as much as it needs). The important value of your charger is the voltage. This must be at 5 V. I don't own an Ipad Charger but every USB-Charger I own (and that's about 5) has an output of 5 V... only differing in mA ... As a conlusion... if you have a usb-charger that has 5 volts you should be fine....
Guest ms264556 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 I've been charging mine off my iPad charger since I got it. It works just fine.

If the Charger has as USB port on then it really should be following the USB spec which is 5v at 500ma if I remember rightly. I know some of these chargers can provide more if the device wants to take it but in theory they all should be capable of 5v @ 500ma Some of them don't bother to negotiate high power mode properly so some devices will refuse to charge from them (As the device believes it can only take 100ma) but otherwise they're pretty much universal. Which is nice because it saves having to carry around a bag full of chargers one ones various gadgets :(
Guest Ricey155 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 works with a BB 9000 rim charger :( Doesn't an ipad use the crappy iphone adapter ?
Guest .logan Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 works with a BB 9000 rim charger :( Doesn't an ipad use the crappy iphone adapter ? ipad charge has a USD port into which you put the cable. They are 2amp (4 times the std 500mA) they will charge anything at 5v. I got a 3rd party one at tesco for 9.99 for my wifes iPad and use it to charge everything that uses a USB cable of some sort.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Ive got a RIM international travel charger, it came with my very first blackberry, in about 2005 and I still use it today... it even charges my iPad.. just very slowly... somewhere I have and offical iPhone charger,, its the worlds smallest thing... its amazing to contrast the two...

All of these will drive phone charges fast, I use the tesco one as my son 'borrowed' the apple one :-(

All of these will drive phone charges fast, I use the tesco one as my son 'borrowed' the apple one :-( I was impressed with the UK one, but the US one is even smaller, I'm sure they spend more time on the design of those things than the phones... I saw an awesome prototype of a folding UK plug last year at Mobile World Congress.... http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/24991/1cm-...k-plug-designed most carriers have tried to standardize on Micro USB as the 'standard' format for sync/charging, Nokia are still being awkward about that.. but mostly its a done deal.
Guest rapidone Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 ZTE needs 700 ma The USB-port of your pc has got 5V 500mA. You can get such adaptors p.ex. here http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u...amp;x=0&y=0 With them you can load your ZTE accu slower and more secure. I use a 1000mA adaptor (mainland plug) for the TZE Blade and it works fine...
Guest isambard Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 i borrowed an ipad adapter and tried to charge the zte, but strangely it didn't work. i didn't have time to investigate, but will try again tomorrow.
Guest dragon2611 Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 lately i've been using either the charger that came with my t-mobile pulse mini or a blackberry charger.
