Guest hostageuk Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 Hi - apologies if this is the wrong forum. I have unlocked my new phone in an area with no 3 coverage. Not normally a problem as we have strong Orange coverage. I have told my phone to connect to Orange (there is no 3 option listed) but it won't do it. Any ideas? I know that in the Youtube video which helped me unlock my phone, Paul says that he will do exactly what I'm going to do - ie use Orange as there is no 3 signal. I just wish that there was a follow-up video saying how he was going to do it! :( H

If not, go there, hit "Menu" again and select "New APN". Enter the following exactly: Name - 3 APN - three.co.uk MMSC - http://mms.um/three.co.uk:120021/mmsc MMS Proxy - mms.three.co.uk MMS Port - 8799 MCC - 234 MNC - 20 Authentication Type - PAP or CHAP APN Type - default Leave everything else blank/unset, hit "Menu", "Save" and delete any other profiles. Phone off and on and see if it works now. Edited December 25, 2010 by Andysan

Soon after I'm back in town, I'll be switching over to T-Mobile in any case. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out the APN changes then myself.

When you say "slow", do you mean that the network is slow as you're out in the country, or the phone itself is slow (i.e just moving between the homescreens and menus)? Three have a very fast network in my opinion so I'm sure you'll be sorted.
