Gt 540 not upgrading

ok guyz i have an Lg optimus gt540 i seriously want to update it to 2.1 ive tried with the ROM the baltic and italian the official way with the LG mobile update tool....notin seeems to be working ive even tried on two different PCs when i open KDZ_FW_UPD i put the roms and wen i launch the update it gets stuck for a moment and then many things come written wen i triend it for about 15-20 times my phone got bricked :( and now its gone for repair ill get it after a week plzzzzzzz help!!!
