Guest thedicemaster Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 i seem to be having a bit of a problem with music. it doesn't seem to matter what music player i use(stock, music-mod, winamp) music seems to randomly skip. say i'm playing track1, suddenly after like a minute of music it starts playing track2 at 1:00(the same point it cut-off track1) but the song-info still lists everything from track1. when this happens the only way to continue on track1 is to set the seek-bar to shortly after the skip happens, if i put it before the skip it will just skip again a few seconds later. i doubt it's the music though, i have the same songs on my phone(acer liquid, android 2.2 too) and there they give no problems.
Guest benniebob Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Yes indeed, I have the same problem. Music skipping randomly.
Guest badger28 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Yes indeed, I have the same problem. Music skipping randomly. Me too! Makes it unusable to play music really as it gets so annoying!
Guest terminaljunkie Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Me too! Makes it unusable to play music really as it gets so annoying! If this happens with a stock build then the Advent Vega team need to know, if only with custom MoDaCo builds then Paul & Co probably need to check it out...which is it? Can anyone test against both? Cheers.
Guest warriorscot Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Happens to me as well, some players are worse than others and it apparently happens on other devices as well. Poweramp seems to be pretty much immune to it though whereas winamp and the stock seem to be especially bad. At the moment I am trying the cubed player but it seems to do it as well although not as badly as others.
Guest thedicemaster Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 that might mean it's an issue in android's own media system, since most media players make use of that(stock, music-mod, winamp, and several others)
Guest badger28 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 I am using pauls version. Not the original. Just need someone to test on the official stock
Guest rayraven Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 ^Dont have a vega [yet], but had the same problem on the Orange San Fran, upping the VM Heap to 32MB fixed it. Cheers
Guest thedicemaster Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 heap size is already at 32MB.
Guest wi-fli Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 My Vega (which Santa brought me yesterday) is still totally "stock" as I have not had time to mod its ROM yet. I am happy to test the music player, but any idea how long I might need to listen before experiencing a music skip? If I've got to listen for tens of minutes or hours then I probably can't oblige in the next day or three...
Guest thedicemaster Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 it's quite random. sometimes i can listen for half an hour without problems, and sometimes it occurs after 30 seconds.
Guest wi-fli Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Well, I've listened to about an hour of an album, 128mb/sec mp3, no weird behaviour or jumps, but it sounds like I might need to listen to more to be sure. My Vega is totally stock apart from a class 4 32GB sd card, and the tablet was mainly doing nothing except playing music, with maybe 10 mins light web browsing in the middle. HTH, but I suspect I've not proved anything yet...
Guest thedicemaster Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 just did a logcat to see if it showed any clues, but nothing. it keeps showing walls of text on every normal music-change, but it acts as if nothing happened during a glitched-jump. it will keep showing the "still playing #" update like normal. so far the only sign that any song change has happened is that someone listening to it hears a different song.
Guest Bez625 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I'm having the same issue too, also occassionally the track stutters. Im on the custom rom from Paul so cant vouch for it being on the stock version. It is very random how this happens though, sometimes it will play the start of the next song during the middle of the current song consistently and other times works fine. Odd :/ -Bez

Same here installed meridian player from market all seems OK. The full title is Meridian Autonomy Player so I guess it uses it's own system. PLEASE can you all test and reply.
Guest debs626 Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 NswPlayer (free from market) seems to be the only one so far that playes my music without skipping. I've used it for 3 hrs solid so far today and not one skip :( Will Give the Meridian Player a whurl and report back.
Guest thedicemaster Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 i'm not using meridian myself because i bought the full version for my phone, and found out it's impossible to activate on an advent vega. but mortplayer is working fine too so far.
