Guest fracmo2000 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) Hi, We got a Vega and I had some real problems (3 hours worth) trying to update the rom the Pauls MCR...I have flashed roms before (winmo/android) but had probles like this. Im guessing its something obvious, I was hoping to run through a few things to make sure Im doing it wrong right I have tried on three different machines (win 7, vista and xp), but managed to get furthest on the xp machine. Here are the screenshots on the device manager. I used the usb view tool posted (usbdview i think) I then selected Android Composite ADB Interface, updated the driver using "have disk" and selecting the usb driver included in the rom...i cant update the driver for "NVIDIA Tegra 2 USB device" under Disk Drives, but I assume thats because its infact using the correct driver The Vega appears under USB controllers as USB Composite Device and USB Mass Storage When I try running install-windows.bat I get the following errors Is it because im a new member and I need to pay? Or is the rom indeed free and Im just plain stupid? Any advice is welcome, cheers! edit I thought I would add I tried uninstalling the vega a few times (using the usb view tool to remove the drivers and using deving manager)...I only need the r5 rar file right? which includes the usb drivers which you unrar...nothing else? Guest ptbw Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) Is the Vega in debug mode, when you attach the usb cord to the pc? Settings \ Applications \ Developer \ USB debugging (on the Vega ) Edit: You don;t need to pay to use the prebake roms but its worth doing for the extra performance pack and just to say thanks for the hard work done by Paul. Ah, I didnt mention that in my original post...yeah i put it into debug mode (small droid/beetle icon appears). I never updated using the myadvent site, im going straight from the shop to Pauls MCR. Is that an issue? I have donated money to people on xda when I use their roms, I certainly dont mind doing it here also...just want to make sure I can get it on the thing before I pay haha! Any other advice? I really want this custom rom on this thing

I went straight from shop as well however I had already unzipped the drivers from the rom so when xp asked for drivers I could just point them at the directory. Not sure what else to try except adb in the sdk does trigger zone alarm, it could be a long shot but you could try disabling any firewall.

So i used the usb view tool to uninstall the drivers, disabled comodo (and anti vir just incase) then re-tried. (I should also note that the windows firewall was already disabled as I installed comodo) It makes it worse that some people its working first time and Im going into my 2nd day!
Guest ptbw Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 May be a second pc or a virtual machine with a bare copy of xp or linux? There is another thread that recommends a vm if you are having problems in windows 7 it might help. Not sure what flavours of linux have been tried but I guess any that work with the sdk should be ok.

When using the usb viewer i did have a lot of usb devices...which like you said maybe causing the issue. @ David.m Yeah, works the same way (i think) as i tried both .bat and on the 2nd install without...same errors :( Why o why cant i seem to get this to work
